gForce is the sole creation and musical direction of Gary Goldman; guitarist, musician, composer and arranger who lives in the greater Atlanta area. At age 7 he came across a guitar for the first time while at a neighbors house. From that moment on, he knew that this would be a life long persuit. He was very fortunate at an early age to study with the great jazz guitarist and teacher Joe Monk. Joe had a studio above a liquor store in Little Neck NY and although he never became a household name, he left a legacy of teaching some of the best guitarist to have emerged from NYC and the surrounding areas. Gary in his first 12 years of playing the guitar played mostly rock and blues using a pick as did every guitarist at that time, he continued playing with other musicians through his high school years and later went to college to major in business administration. He was not ready to enter the business world yet and enrolled at the Music and Arts institute in San Francisco where he studied the classical guitar with the great Cuban guitarist Rey De La Torre. At first it was a real struggle having to give up the plectrum and relearn to play the guitar using only his fingers. He continued learning the classical repertoire and later studied flamenco guitar with Mariano Cordoba. At that time he became interested in jazz and Brazilian music and began applying the right hand classical technique to all types of music. He played the club circuit in San Francisco and amplified his nylon guitar so that he could be heard while playing with his various bands. The club scene provided many opportunities to explore the possibilities of mixing jazz and pop styles with a finger style approach. Gary later decided to move back to NY where he studied with Howard Morgen, a 7-string guitar pioneer and jazz guitar arranger. Howard taught Gary to explore more possibilities with writing solo guitar arrangements. The guitar is very similar to an orchestra if played with all 10 fingers with independent voicing and movement.Enjoy the music
