About Me

< MyGen Profile GeneratorOld School Hip Hop D.J.I started poppin in the early 80's after hearing michael jacksons P.Y.T. At 13.i joined the boogie breakers b-boy crew, which later became the(team city rockers),and took the name,(MR. FRESH). At age 14,i started to write lyrics but, to be honest,i was shit!!!!!!!!! My dj at the time was cut master jay. we recorded some stuff in the studio but i was more interested in djing myself,so we set out as a dj team. We had already played the local youth club, friday night was b-boy night. We did our first show in 1987 on an irish pirate radio station called (DIMMOND 106). Seen as i was the one with da big mouth,i did all the talkin and we both did the mixin. MR.FRESH became DJ LAZ-E. In 1988 i had my own weekly show and would invite local rapers and beat boxes on to do their thing. It went out at 6-9 every wednesday night,on a pirate station called SMILE FM. It was great to have people calling the station, requesting songs, sending in demo's, and sending out challanges to other crews. I was still in school at this time, and had been bitten by the dj bug. So.... a friend of mine named LOCO, and I put it to the teachers about setting up a radio station in the school. They thought it was a great idea, they even bought us turntables and a mixer out of the school funds. We broadcasted throughout the school at lunch times, via the school P.A. system. Sadly, when my school years ended,so did the station. (ALL PIRATE RADIO STATIONS WERE CLOSED DOWN IN DECEMBER 31st 1988). I came 2nd in a small dj contest organised by D.M.C. in 1989. In 1990,CUT MASTER JAY came 2nd in the first irish D.M.C. finnal. By 1993,we had joined rap crew, (jus like family),2 brothers who were mc's and both friends of mine from school. Loads of rough demo's and good ideas, but we never made it into a propper studio. We giged around for about 2 years, playing venue's like the rock garden and barn stormers with scairy eire and ghost and jay. In 95' we called it a day,and i headed off to greece, where i dj'd for the next 3 years. When i returned to ireland in 98',the turntable scene had exploded, big time! I entered the championships later that year, and came 2nd. Early 99' was when it started to happen again. Myself and a dj called SHERLOCK started an old school show on POWER FM. The show was called the PLASTIC ATTACK, and is still going strong 10 years on.The show proved very popular, with appearances from,RIRA,EXILE EYE,BILLY JAM,BLACK TWANG,CREATIVE CONTROL,HOME BREW,SPLICE,O.B, 4 times irish D.M.C. champion DJ MEK,and present world champion,DJ TUKI. A turntable crew was formed. SPLICE,MEK,TUKI and myself were now known as VOO DOO SCRATCH ATTACK. The show was a great platform for us.We were now on call to do more gigs and live supports.A segment from the PLASTIC ATTACK radio show was featured on HIP HOP SLAM's compilation, GLOBAL TURNTABLES.This was a great moment for us,as the album also featured scratch creator GRAND WIZZARD THEODORE and, cut and paste masters, DOUBLE D and STEINSKI. Splice opened a record shop(all city) and set up a lable of the same name,MEK focused mainly on production,TUKI became the battle master, and i hit the gig scene again.because my style is mainly old school, promoters would ask me to support the old school artists when they came to town. I have opened for ICE-T, GRAND MASTER FLASH, THE SUGAR HILL GANG, TREVOR NELSON, BLACK TWANG, DJ PREMIER,SCARY EIRE,CELTIC POSSIE, AFRIKKA BAMBAATAA, RUN DMC, DJ SUPREME(hijack), and PUBLIC ENEMY, to name but a few. Nowadays,i present the plastic attack alone and, do a little production(when i get the time),but i hope to work with some of the old school artists in the not so distant future.THE L.
