About Me

"Leena Conquest exudes a world-wise quality and a unique phrasing style that instantly place her among the top-shelf singers in urban and pop." Billboard AMERICAN SINGER LEENA CONQUEST IS A RECORDING ARTIST STEEPED IN THE JAZZ TRADITION AND FULL OF ALL THINGS SOULFUL. "BRILLIANT" IS WHAT LARRY BLUMENTHAL CALLED HER AT NEW YORK’S VISION FESTIVAL 2008. KNOWN FOR HER ABILITY TO INTERPRET SONGS WITH A STYLE ALL HER OWN, LEENA’S DISTINCTIVE VOICE IS IN DEMAND AND HER SPONTANEOUS DANCING IS ALWAYS AN ADDITIONAL DELIGHT FOR AUDIENCES.This Texas- born chanteuse has been heralded for her work with bassist William Parker and is featured on several recordings including Raining on the Moon (thirstyear.com), Cornmeal Dance (aumfidelity.com) and The Inside Songs of Curtis Mayfield (RAI). Not a far cry from her earliest beginnings of Motown-like crooning when she penned the club hit, Boundaries (BMG, Island) and released her Come Fly Away CD (theorchard.com). She has worked with a host of jazz luminaries including her duo collaboration with pianist Dave Burrell, Teardrops for Jimmy, slated for a Fall 2009 release. Vibesman Roy Ayers is featured on The Breeze and pianist Mulgrew Miller plays on Poem for a Lady from her CD Come Fly Away. Leena is in the mix with some of the hippest DJ's on the planet who continue to put a new spin on her tracks. She is a Communications graduate of Stanford University, attended New York University's Tisch School of the Art and trained at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center.
