Reading, listening and playing music, films, trekking and mountaineering (lately...), history (I love reading about the Medieval Era!), I guess there has to be more but I cannot think of them right now!
Blog
Everyone who could be a friend of mine in the real world, but we didn' t have the chance to meet out there because we live in different cities, countries, or dimensions! Why not making a start online?
On the other hand, if you are a "friends-collector" and you just want to add #13.567, do us both a favour and spare me the trouble: go next door! If you sell Viagra, kinky DVDs or arrange dates-with-hot-babes, please click HERE to leave your offer, and my financial manager will contact you soon!
.. Among others, Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM, classic rock, jazz & blues bands and artists. Bob Dylan, Santana, Dr John; Manos Loizos; Dionysis Savvopoulos; Theodorakis; Xatzidakis; Afoi Katsimixa; whatever Nikos Xylouris has ever sung; old works of Thanos Mikroutsikos; I love traditional Irish-Celtic music, as well as the music of the indigenous peoples of the Andes!
Jukebox
.. Too many to mention them all! Any of Michael Mann ("The insider", "Heat", "The last of the Mohicans" etc.), "Seven", "Braveheart" ("Freeeeeeedoooooooom!!!"), Emir Kusturica's films, most of Ken Loach's, all of Tim Burton's, "American History X" (at last, one with no happy-ending...), a lot of Martin Scorsese (e.g. "Good Fellas"), Aki Kaurismaki's "The man without a past", "Cinema Il Paradiso", "In the name of the father", this year's Eastern-German "Life of others", "The Shawshank Redemption", "Usual suspects", "The Truman Show", "The Godfather (I & II)"...The list goes on and on! But I run far away from any cinema theater playing any of Lars Von Trier's films, or any other "Dogma 95" movie...
.. I generally try to avoid it, although usually I just have it on while I am resting at home. When I do WATCH it, it is usually some movie or some athletic event (football, basketball), or alternatively some documentary broadcasts that are played in certain Greek channels.
.. "The name of the rose" (Umberto Eco), "Patagonia Express" (Luis Sepúlveda), "Leonardo's bicycle" (Paco Ignacio Taibo II), "Into thin air" (Jon Krakauer), all the books of Manuel Vasquez Montalban; Primo Levi; a lot of "noir" (all of Patrick Manchette, Paco Ignacio Taibo II, Arturo Perez-Reverte, Chester Himes, George Pelecanos). I like a lot of latin literature (Reverte, ChavarrÃa, Sepúlveda, Taibo etc.). I also like Dan Brown (OK shoot me!). Last, but not least, comics: Hugo Pratt above all, Enki Bilal, Tardi, Bernet, Frank Miller, Andrea Pazienza, Aleksandr Zograf et.al.
.. -Che Guevara
-Luis Sepulveda, for all his life story
-Mark Inglis, the first man to climb Everest on artificial legs (although as a member of a commercial expedition)!
I have a photo of him on my desk to always remind me that NOTHING is impossible!
