About Me

Instruments- Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica, Piano and DidgeridooStephen was raised with his five siblings in the beautiful country area of Gippsland in Victoria, Australia. He feels a strong connection to the land there and often returns for musical inspiration.As a child he was inspired by his father’s prized record collection, which included Charlie Pride, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Stephen began piano lessons at the age of seven, falling in love with the music of Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis. At fifteen he acquired an acoustic guitar and began playing folk, blues and rock whilst listening to artists such as Chain and Jimi Hendrix. More recently his influences include; Charley Pride, Neil Young, Ben Harper, Jeff Lang and Crowded House .Stephen has performed with Jeff Achison, Carl Panuzzo, Mal Web and Krista Polvere, and performed as a support for The Living End, Diesel and Something for Kate, as well as solo performances at Woodford, Dandenong Ranges, Boolarra, Malden and The National Folk festivals.Stephen’s songs utilize a broad vocal range and his guitar playing includes an energetic percussive, finger style. Recent compositions such as ‘Angel’, ‘Jessie Take the Wheel’ ‘Bigger Than Life’ and ‘Something Sacred’ have a distinct country flavour that also includes harmonica.
