“Stick to a Cause” is a charity organization led by college students to promote awareness and raise knowledge about fair trade (not free trade), international debt relief, and the plight of exploited workers around the world. Our mission is to help others become informed on ways in which they can help less fortunate men, women, and children around the world who lack access to proper healthcare, education, and labor rights. To this end, we encourage people who come across our page (or anyone who is invited to look at our page) to ask us questions about how they can help, why certain policies of the IMF and CAFTA (as well as others) are not serving beneficial purposes in areas like Central America, and to confront us with any other questions or points of interest we might be able to address.

Basically, we feel that if every person who visits our page would simply make a commitment to stick to ONE cause, we could change the world for the better. Too many young people in the United States and elsewhere underestimate their ability to make a significant difference in the world. Perhaps they are overwhelmed by the staggering number of organizations out there asking for their service. Whatever the case may be, too many of these young people end up becoming apathetic or indifferent to all of the causes and end up not pledging themselves to any of them. This has to change. PICK A CAUSE. STICK TO IT. The world begs you.To help promote awareness, we also encourage people to order our bumperstickers (hence, "stick" to a cause) or at least spread the word about our organization so that we may gain 1) credibility and 2) the capacity to truly make a difference in the lives of people around the world who lack the resources to truly help themselves. If we are able to raise enough money, we hope to make other products available for order in the near future, as well. Consult our blog for information on what's up and how to order.

Thank You,
Sean Chandler (Centre College Class of 2008)

P.S. For information on how to order bumperstickers, please consult our blog. They are $2.00 a piece, but we have special deals on bulk purchases (for example, 7 for $10, 10 for $15, and so forth). The blog will also explain how we divide the income garnered from the sale of these bumperstickers to maintain our non-profit organization and make donations to our various charities. Hopefully, if all goes according to plan, we will begin making enough of a consistent income to lower our prices a bit. Thanks again!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

* Enthusiastic individuals who are eager to make a difference in the lives of people around the world who are struggling to make ends meet. Republican, Democrat, Green Party...Labels are not important. Every individual has the capacity to show compassion and help others and we welcome any kind of contribution we can get, whether it be financial or simply assistance in spreading our word and the stories of people we have encountered in dire situations.

The video below depicts scenes from Acualinca in Managua, Nicaragua where the largest municipal dump in Central America is located. I visited "La Chureca" in January of 2007 and this video does a pretty solid job of capturing the situation that hundreds of children endure in this dump every day. Get to know "La Chureca" from the video, visit www.lachureca.org to make a donation and read the article in my blog to find examples of ways to get involved.
