Singer, songwriter, producer….John Barnes embodies the spirit of a seasoned artist. John is polished and poised to take center stage. His style is Old-School blended with new elements of Hip Hop and R&B. His delivery is smooth and sultry. With enormous talent that speaks volumes, it’s his intense passion and desire that will direct this rising star. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native always loved to sing. His fondness for music was evident at an early age. He remembers singing when he was 5 years old. Like most, his first stage was in church. “I sang at church a lot because I spent a lot of time there,” John said. Singing in church ignited his love for music but singing in a group with his cousins fueled his love for performing. “We would sing at family gatherings and wow everybody. I would just light up from all the attention,” he said.John sang in the school choir, at weddings, and in local talent shows to sharpen his skills. Even though he loved to sing, he still considered it a hobby. It wasn’t until he was featured on an X-Box game that he believed his dream to become a singer was attainable. Later, lacing tracks for New Orleans rappers, C-Murder and Choppa further deepened his interest in recording music but John yearned to do his own thing. Instead of reciting the words of others, he focused on writing his own material.Confident and self-assured, John’s debut CD Johnre Music details his approach and feelings about life. The material is based on his reality but also expresses his creativity. He illustrates his take on relationships, love and sex. This gifted writer is able to recount his experiences with melodic, lyrical ease, a flow reminiscent of classic soul while incorporating new school flare. Johnre Music is a collection of varied songs, including sensual love songs and booty shaking club bangers. It has something for everyone.In addition to singing, John is also a model and budding actor. He was an extra in the Oscar award winning Ray and has appeared in several commercials. John doesn’t compare himself to other artists, “We all have something different to offer,” he said. “I’m always seeking new heights and accomplishments. The sky is the limit.”
