Ghlantic (The Book)

Ghlantic is a classic tale of love, pain, struggle, deception and survival within a powerful family business that spotlights the trials, tribulations, and sibling rivalries through dual voices and psyches of fraternal twins, Toyota “Yoda” Ward and Mazda “Sixx” Ward. Their names may be bizarre. However, these teenagers are as smart as they are deadly.
Yoda, a straight “A” student natural born hustler, is recruited and groomed by his uncles to run the family’s narcotic distribution ring. Although he excels at managing the business, he is constantly fighting a civil war within himself to get out. He loves the money but hates the game. Totally ignoring the desires of fictitious love he receives from the streets that so many of his peers fiend for. Yoda focuses his attention on the art form of flipping his money from dirty to clean and pursuing his true passion of becoming a lawyer. However, the streets pushes Yoda off of his course of action when he is forced to handle a rival Boss with deadly vengeance, his inner conflict eventually leads Yoda to make some tough choices regarding the business, which ultimately haunts him.
Sixx on the other hand marvels as a materialistic fabulous ghetto princess who revels in the rewards of her family’s success without any responsibilities besides dealing with the highs and lows of ghetto love. Her life is changed upside down when circumstances dictates that she leads the business as Yoda’s successor. Sixx’s perspective on life changes as her new position showers her with an abundance of attention, responsibilities, and transforms her from spoiled sister to queen boss lady of the Philadelphia street scene who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty to defend her principle, “I ain’t sweet. I’m street.” However, the game throws her a twist in the form of hate, jealousy, and envy when she exposes that she’s smarter, flashier, deadlier, and more calculating than her male counterparts.
Regan Wald does an excellent job of bringing characters to life that are complex, powerful while remaining fresh and entertainingly familiar. The story attacks with realistic, but disturbing images from the first chapter and keeps you gasping for more even after the final page. Regan Wald is a dynamic young North Philadelphian author. Her self determination and persistence helped her earn a degree in finance and carried her into a career in modeling and acting. Ghlantic is Regan’s first novel which she wrote while on a modeling assignment in South Africa. Look out for more Regan Wald novels and movies for years to come.
