The Falconz

The Falconz are now on a break. Who knows for how long... Paul is now doing solo work so check that out... Melbourne band 'The Falconz' formed in early 2003 and put themselves on the industry map with their debut release 'Blue Highway' which earned great reviews and an award nomination at the Tamworth Country Music Festival for the single 'Waiting'. Singer/guitarist Paul William Ray started the band with longtime rythym section comrades David Ross and Michael Hall. Carl Sutton who had played guitar with Paul in the cover band 'Platinum' was added to the ranks and Chris Khoo plays acoustic guitar for live performances. Main songwriter Paul, leans towards a country rock style influenced by contemporaries Ryan Adams and Keith Urban but together with a band of guys that come from a predominantly rock background the songwriting turns into a rockfest with only a hint of the country element. This style is again represented in the 2004 ep release 'In Trouble Again' which also gained great reviews and was at ..10 in the Herald-Sun top ten cd's of 2004 reviewers list. Radio play and interviews on stations such as 3pbs, 774abc, Triple M, Syn and various community stations have boosted the bands profile. The single 'In Trouble Again' was played on Rove in September 2004. The Falconz played two shows at The Mercury Lounge as part of the Premier Artists/Triple M launch pad with the latter show being part of the 'best of' series.
