Unstable blues music

About Me

I was born in Namur in 1977. I started playing guitar when I was 15. Now 30 and trying to find my own way through the numerous musical influences... I have released a few CDs, singles, EPs and full CDs, with indie and major labels (Universal !). Lot of gigs, mainly in Belgium, but also in the Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, Italy, Canada, Switzerland, ... Cool. I have played with Fred and the Healers, X-Three and I am now playing rock songs with Superslinger. I also backed several artists (Jake LaBotz, Catherine Feeny, LA Jones, ...) touring in Benelux and France.
Basically, I started playing blues rock in the mid-nineties. I must say that I am now more interested in writing songs than soloing endlessly on twelve bars... Well, it depends on the mood i'm in.That's why I call my music unstable blues ... I equally love to play Sidetracked of Freddie King and the Johnny Cash version of One... Off course what I love the most is my own, very modest, songs. And yeah while in the nineties and early 2000 I used to sing stuff like "I woke up this morning with a whisky bottle face" and all the blues clichés about John the Conquer root and Chicago located in California, I am now trying to write very complicated intellectual things that only me myself and I can understand.
Sometimes I play with my Bro in duo. I used to say that it's something in the spirit of Hound Dog Taylor, except that unlike him we have only 5 fingers per hand but more than 5 teeth left.
I also play in what is called the Fred Lani trio, which is usually a one night stand / exercise without rehearsal, without major challenge. But very funny as everything is possible, that's the best definition of unstable blues music.
One thing: I really love vintage guitars, drums, bass, amps, ... My favorite guitar is the Gibson ES330 with 2 P90 PUs, my second favorite is the standard telecaster by fender. I used to play on stratocasters in the past, but they are way to sophisticate for my weak little mind.
Some of the places where I played:
Ancienne Belgique (once as support of Robert Cray and once as headliner with Fred & the Healers), Paradisio Amsterdam (backing Jake LaBotz), Werchter Festival Plein (support act of Bon Jovi), Brabant Hal Leuven (support act of Joe Cocker), Montreux Jazz Festival (in 2004), Dour Festival (red frequency stage with F&H, other stage with Catherine Feeny), Couleur Café, Peer BRBF (once as headliner of the friday, once just before Tad Robinson), Botanique (played there with all my bands, almost 10 times...), Spirit of 66 (played there 22 times !!!), Francofolies, Flèche D'or Paris (with Superslinger), Iduna Poppodium (with Jake La Botz), ...
Opening for :
Joe Cocker, Bon Jovi, Canned Heat, Tony Joe White, Robert Cray, Poppa Chubby, Blof, Gypsy Kings, Howe Gelb, Chicken shack, Nanette Workman, ...
