Momento was formed in October 2006 in Krsko. The idea for the collaboration was given by Bostjan Levicar (vocals, guitar), once also a member of Ad Libitum and Ideal, and by Robert Dvorsek (drums, backvocals), who played in the group Death Wing and who also participated in different projects. During the first improvisations and collaborations, they already defined the type of music they wanted to play. But they soon realized that they needed more band members. The first to join the band was a high-school friend, Beno Lipovsek (keyboard). He was followed by the bassist Nejc Derzic (Growing Rats), who left the group after a short period due to personal obligations, but played an important role in the forming of the band's music. The search for a new bassist continued through various ads and auditions until May 2007, when Marko Jakopin (bass guitar) joined and completed the band.
Momento could be defined as a progressive rock band with elements of grunge, metal, and funk. Although the lyrics and the basic ideas are mainly Bostjan's work, the whole band participates in the making of the music and the arrangements. The band has such a rich and various repertory because each member has different musical influences and ideas (from Muse, Nirvana, Hendrix, and Springsteen to Dream Theater). Therefore the motives and the elements of the band's music are also very different and unique. Avoiding prototypes and searching new vibes is what Momento is looking for.
The band has entered the studio for the first time in May 2007 and made four demo tapes (Prima, Flying High, Morje Idej and Our World). Since Momento did not have a permanent bassist (Marko joined during the recording), the drummer Robi, who was the bassist and the singer of Death Wing for many years, also recorded the bass guitar. The band worked with Matej Brili (producer), who largely contributed to the final form and quality of the demo tapes and kept an eye (mostly an ear) on the mixing desk. Matej and Bostjan already collaborated for the band Ad Libitum.
On 20th October 2007, Momento celebrated their one year anniversary and for this occasion the group organized their first concert on their home ground – in the Krsko Youth Center. The band introduced themselves to the audience with their work and left a very good impression. In the same month Momento's web site was opened – www.momento.si .
Momento completed the year 2007 with a successful performance in front of several thousand people in the Matija Gubec Square in Krško at the traditional concert Žur leta (Party of the year) organized by Radio Energy. In January 2008 a CD/DVD compilation was published under the auspices of the Krško Youth Center and within the project G:A:P (Alternative Music of the Posavje region). Momento took part of the compilation with the song "5ka", with both the studio version of the song and the live video that was shot at Momento's premiere concert in October.
