About Me

About John Lake:

John is a freelance trumpet player, composer/arranger/copyist, music educator, and sound engineer in the Denver/Boulder area. John migrated to Colorado in 2007 to pursue a Master of Music at The University of Colorado at Boulder, where he currently teaches under a graduate assistantship. Since relocating from Cincinnati, he had performed with a variety of jazz and popular music groups including La Candela Salsa, Golan, and his own projects, including Vern and The John Lake Ensemble. While in Cincinnati, John attended The University of Cincinnati’s prestigious College-Conservatory of Music, earning his Bachelor of Music Cum Laude in 2006. John was awarded with The Cincinnatus Scholarship for Academic Achievement, The David N. Hall Foundation for Jazz Scholarship, and was nominated by the President of the University for The Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship for Graduate Study.
