About Me

Kohout plaší smrt It was a gloomy evening in the autumn of 1996. A group of “weirdos” gathered in a dark garage in a small town within a small country located in the heart of Europe and decided to create a band; despite the fact that they were unsure of what genre of music they would like to play. Because they were not musicians, they drew out of a hat to determine which instrument each of them would have to learn to play. Above, the dark clouds were spitting dark raindrops and the future of this unknown band looked no less bleak. Another problem was that each musician preferred a different kind of music. With this in mind, there were virtually two possibilities of the outcome of such a tumultuous mixture; which contained world music, brass music, blues and metal or punk influences. The choice was simple, we could play incredibly path-breaking music, stuffed with invention, or a disgusting, boring pell-mell full of compromises. Unfortunately the second possibility came true. This dark period suddenly ended in 2001. By that time, part of the band, despite the disagreements of the other members, finally decided to play the music they liked; this decision resulted in a few members leaving the band. Equipped with new inspiration and a fresh line-up; the band started to work on some piercing new material that would burst into the rotting scene of local show business in 2002. After many live gigs; the first official record was released in 2004. After this more gigs were booked and the last significant changes in the band line-up were made; because the founding guitarist realised that he had other interests. A life consisting of week-ends spent in a smelly van with a group of smelly punks no longer intrigued him. But since that time the band has consolidated, and the last official record thus far was released in March of 2008. The band has toured in other countries as well, including France, Spain, Germany, Poland or Slovakia. The band plays regularly on biggest music festivals in Czech republic, such as Benatska Noc (25.000 people) or Trutnov open air (30.000 people). Their total amount of live gigs is upwards of 500.Discography: 1997 – MÄ›jme se rádi 1999 – Nic víc nic míň 2002 – Samý nový vÄ›ci 2004 – Kurnik Å¡opa! 2008 – DuÅ¡evní výlukaweb: http://www.myspace.com/kohoutplasismrt http://kps.musicserver.cz http://bandzone.cz/kohoutplasismrtcontact: [email protected] [email protected] ICQ: 372-668-697
