Breathe in the moment

About Me

Joan Zen has been hailed as "a chanteuse of the first order with a voice full of character and conviction and playfulness and soul" (Joe Nickell, The Missoulian, 2005). In an earnest mission to awaken happiness in others, writing soulful grooves with inspiring lyrics, Joan Zen combines funky-soul, reggae, hip-hop and jazz to create a genre fueled by powerful vocals and electrically charged live shows. "This, people, is a REAL singer with a powerful instrument...that can go from a whisper to a growl faster than you can say 'Pass the vegan burrito'" (Bob Wire, The Missoula Independent, 2007). Never preachy or heavy, Joan Zen attempts to offer positive messages through the vehicle of bluesy soul. Lis-ZEN and enjoy! Be happy!
