About Me

Back in the late 80's__ Adrian Cook (Cooky) an unknown Bass player from Rhydyfelin approached Jeff Simms (Jarvy) Formally guitarist with Campaign 1, decided that between them they new a enough chords to write a few songs. These songs were developed from 10 years of punk influences starting with the Pistols, Clash and Siouxsie and the Banchees. A £30.00 quid drum machine was bought from Aidy Bounder, (I don't think we ever paid him though) the songs started to develop. We decided it was time to find a singer, Cooky had heard that there was a weird looking person from Caerphilly nicknamed "Ratty" who was getting a little attention around the South Wales valleys for singing in some sort of Punk techno type of band. A meeting was arranged in Jarvy's squat in Treharris, and Richard Jones (Dickie Death) was drafted in. We decided that it would we a good idea that Richard gave up his full time job so that we could all Concentrate on our new careers as pop stars. (and be all skint together) THE BIRTH OF WITCH IN THE WARDROBE: The drum machine was used for one gig then replaced by a real person Jason Bisset. Line up- Vocals-Richard Jones Lead Guitar-Jeff Simms Bass Guitar-Cooky Drums-Jason Bisset After a shit load of playing local gigs and supporting some of the major labelled bands that played in South Wales, including Fields Of The Nephilim.Moving on, We decided that Cooky was pissing us off so he was to go, and to replaced with heavy metal bass player Mathew from Cardiff, not long after and because of a difference in music direction and general commitment the band split. Jarvy got a real job and Cooky and Dicky formed "Spirit of Ecstasy" After 12 months or so of gigging around the country and supporting some big well known bands and having some good write ups in the NME and Melody Maker, on the strength of Easy and little white lies, "Spirit of Ecstasy" were finding it hard to continue to write good songs. Jarvy was drafted in to the line up in 1994 LINE UP: Vocals-Richard Jones, Lead Guitar-Jeff Simms, Rhythm Guitar-Steve, Bass Guitar-Cooky, Drums-Nick. Nick soon left the band to pursue happiness elsewhere. After messing with a drum machine for a while we signed a management deal with Paul Gray of the Damned, and Lyne Bartlett who at the time was with Virgin. We then found a new drummer” Cliff" and got down to business. We continued gigging and recording for some time. We changed our name (For Paul Gray) to "fruitcake for a short spell" a record deal was on the table with a major record company. To cut a long story short Lyne was on holidays, Paul was to greedy and fucked the deal up, Steve and Cliff left the band. Cooky was send to prison for 2 murders, Dicky and Jarvy got tidy jobs and started family's. AND SO A FEW YEARS DOWN THE LINE-----------------THE BIRTH OF SOLUTIA--------------------------------
