The King of Fighters
When the events of King Of Fighters 2003 occur, Tizoc is an up and coming superstar in the professional wrestling circuit and joins the Fatal Fury team after being invited by Terry Bogard himself after his brother Andy becomes unavailable since he is teaching a young boy in Shiranui style Ninjitsu in Japan. (The boy would later grow up to be known as Hokutomaru in the Garou series).
Trivia
-He makes a cameo in KOF 2002 in the Mexico stage.
Because Tizoc took Andy's place on the Fatal Fury team in KOF 2003, Mai briefly wonders whether he is Andy, but quickly realizes Tizoc is much too tall and well-muscled to be her boyfriend.
-Tizoc shares a lot of similarities with King from the Tekken series. They are both Mexican, are professional wrestlers, both of them wear a mask resembling an animal's head (King wears a Jaguar mask while Tizoc wears a griffon mask), and both are motivated by children. This is apparently an homage to the retired real life Mexican wrestler Fray Tormenta (Father Storm).
-Based on Tizoc's Japanese name, look, and some of the names of his special moves, he is also an homage to the famous Japanese professional wrestler and Manga protagonist Tiger Mask.
-The name TÃzoc hails from an ancient ruler of the Mexican-native Aztec culture.
-To tell the truth, "Raiden" was to appear in KOF 2003, but before the characters were finally decided on, Tizoc took his place.
Along with the change to KOF 2003's game system, we were able to create movements heretofore impossible with KOF until now, allowing us to add the style of Tizoc for that very reason.
It's unclear whether there were plans or not to introduce Grant from Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves along with Tizoc for a friendly tag team battle.
It may not be very well known, but the Japanese name for Tizoc is "Griffon Mask." But we felt "Tizoc" for the English version had a nice ring to it.
