The history of music has been replete with groups, all of who have made undeniable impressions on this genre of music called hip-hop. Over the years great acts like WU-TANG, The Lox, 8ball & MJG, UGK, Ghetto Boys and G-Unit have made history by consistently releasing classic material that has impacted the lives of generations to come. With the release of Pittsburgh based group F-Block's follow up CD entitled Welcome to Wilkinsburg, SK, Black J, Turwk Thompson and HNIC will make history by continuing to build the list of seminal hip-hop groups with another entry.Formed in 1999 by two childhood friends, SK and (formally Skeem) and HNIC did whatever it took to make ends meet even if it meant hustlin. "We from Pittsburgh, you only got 2 options ball in the league or ball in the streets", says HNIC. "We made money going from one level to the next, and we was making money together. We was all from the say block, Foliage, and thats how we got the name F-Block. We made money in the streets together so we figured we would get money with this music together, say out of jail and stay above the surface", he adds. One of the moves that they decided to make involved pooling monies together from real estate, candy stores, landscaping companies that HNIC owed and recording an independent CD that eventually made its way to the streets with the classics like "Trafficn' tha White" produced by h and "The Pole". It would later proved to be one of the smartest moves they ever made."What happened was I was in timebomb [clothing] and h was shooting his movie", explains HNIC. "Brick was like yo, this is the dude you need to see for the beats. So i linked up with him got his number and went to his studio. I was tryn to get my own studio, so we went to the store and grabbed the equipment, from there it was on. We had the pro-tools and everything else we needed to get right". "We started recording the CD, but we had so much music we did a double CD which ended up selling like 5500 copies to date."After countless shows all over the PA region, the group started crafting their second CD, "Welcome 2 Wilkinsburg", Getting more production from h, Crackk King, and more. "We was in the studio one day and h brought his mpc and lil keyboard wit him." explains SK. "He starting making this beat, and everybody was in the studio going crazy. We all started putting this hook together them h was like hurry up, get in the booth lets lay this, and thats how we got the lead single 'We Run It". "Now we just tryn sell more copies of this one that we did the first one, get on some college tours, everything. We got the ringtones popping, we doing shows every week...its whatever, we just tryn make this music happen for real. We made everything else happen for us, so I figure why cant we make this happen?""Welcome to Wilkinsburg" is a magnum opus debut on F-Block records. According to the group the albums basic theme is the Gwap. "Its all about the Gwap!" adds HNIC. Its derived from thier own life experiences, which has taught the harsh realities of supply-side economics. "We were raised to be hustla's", says Black J. "You know coming up through the struggle you learn quick that if it is something around that will sell or if there’s a demand for it then you need to be be the one who supplies it."With all the hype building around F-Block and their crazy releases "Homies" and "Welcome to Wilkinsburg", SK, Black J, Twurk Thompson and HNIC are set to teach the world about who they are."Its all about the Gwap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
