As the saying goes, I followed in my fathers footsteps because it..s in my blood. My father who had a hit record as the lead singer for a group called the AVALONS back in the fifties was performing his solo act in nightculbs here in quebec when one day he had a matinee and decided to bring me to watch him sing. Before I knew it he had invited me up to sing with him, I was ten years old and it was my first time on stage although I had sung a lot at home. Needless to say it went very well, the audience applauded and one custumer even gave me 2 dollars. I was hooked.Right then and there I decided this is what I want to do, that was 40 years ago. It..s truly a blessing to know so early what you want to do for the rest of your life and to have the support of your family and friends the whole way. To this day I have that same passion and love of music every time I walk out on stage, the day I lose that will be the day to call it quits. At 15 I was given the choice of reform school for troubled teens or going on the road with my fathers band, easy choice, and I spent the next three years travelling around Canada playing in nightclubs and learning the business from a group of veterans whom at the time I thought didn..t know anything. I know better now. At 18 I decided to leave my dad and fly on my own, and fly I did for the next 25 years playing in clubs and halls with many different bands and all kinds of music. I did backup vocals for a while both in studio and live with a number of artists such as LAURA FABIAN, BRUNO PELLETIER, and others. I toured with MARIO PELCHAT for the CEST LA VIE tour as a background vocalist. I released some dance singles in the early eighties and recorded my first and only solo album in 1994 with Artiste Records and Paul Levesque Management. About 10 years ago I decided to slow down on the club scene and got into doing musicals like LES FOUS DU ROCK AND ROLL and many others. Also got into acting, liked it, so I did some studies and workshops and I..ve appeared in about 10 movies so far such as ONE DEAD INDIAN, SLOW BURN,FLIRTING WITH DANGER ,and the recently released A LIFE INTERRUPTED,etc. Last year in may 2006 I got the incredible opportunity thanks in part to KIM RICHARDSON to perform as RAY CHARLES at the montreal casino in the show HIT THE ROAD JACK which was without a doubt the most challenging and the most fullfilling gig of my career. Followed by another hit show called PIANOMEN, again at the casino in which I had the pleasure to portray again RAY CHARLES and also FATS DOMINO,and STEVIE WONDER.Last but not least I would just like to say that in my efforts to grow on this planet, I have come to believe that part of my existence involves making a positive contribution to mankind. I have been given the gift of music and so, I contribute in a small way by giving what I have for the enjoyment of others. Peace Always. Michael Dozier.
