About Me

Born in 1495 to Emperor Ahuitzol and a noble mother, he was sent to be raised amongst the warriors of Guerrero, Mexico in Ixcateopan. After the resistance of the Spanish was initiated by Cuaupopoca, and after Cuitlahuac fell ill with smallpox, Cuauhtemoc was elected by the Eagle Council to rule Tenochtitlan in 1521. Resistant of all Spanish efforts at conquest, Cuauhtemoc did not divulge information even as his feet were burned in torture. The last Mexica/Aztec Emporer, Cuauhtemoc was executed by Cortez in Honduras on February 28, 1525.On February 24, 2007, XIPE TOTEC DANZANTES AZTECAS will be hosting our 27th Annual Celebration/Fiesta in honor of CUAUHTEMOC at Parque de Mexico in Lincoln Heights, CA at the corner of N. Main st. and Mission Rd., at the CUAUHTEMOC statue. This is one of the oldest Danza gatherings in the U.S. We will begin the ceremony of Danza Azteca at 10:00 a.m. There is no videotaping, and PLEASE, no alcohol or drugs.
