"If abuse and neglect had a baby, his name would be Hot Charlie."Hot Charlie was born to a Black Man from Memphis, Tennessee and a White Woman from "Small Town" Iowa. Spending his childhood back and forth between the two opposite worlds exposed him to a number of various influences. He is Black, yet White; Midwestern, yet Southern. This makes Hot Charlie a very unique individual and it is strongly reflected in his music.Influenced by artists like Scarface, Eightball & MJG, UGK, and Ice Cube; Hot Charlie began to experiment with writing verses and songs until it developed into a full on passion. He began making tapes and selling them in the midwest and gained a bit of local notariety.
At the same time, he gained local notariety for another product he was distributing...crack cocaine. In 2001, Hot Charlie moved to Los Angeles to persue music full time. He signed on with a nationally known talent agency and things began to take off. But his success was cut short by a federal conspiracy indictment and subsequent 14 year prison sentence. In February 2009, changes to the federal sentencing guidelines awarded Hot Charlie another shot at life and a renewed passion for music. After 8 years behind bars, Hot Charlie is back!
