Diga - A Tlicho (Dogrib) word for Wolf

About Me

Diga is a Tlicho (Dogrib) word meaning wolf.Diga is originally from the Tlicho community of (BehchoKo) Rae Edzo, Northwest Territories.Diga is a passionate guitarist (electric and acoustic) who plays and sings with great respect for the land, the Tlicho culture and the elders. Diga’s music is dynamic, ethereal and very emotional. Diga draws his inspiration from the earth and the conflicts that arise from the evolution of his native culture, and his place in that evolution. Diga’s music is refreshingly honest, seeking truth. Every song is an explosion of imagery, that takes you on a ride across the Northern landscapes and into the hearts of the people that live there. Diga performs live as a three piece band: electric guitars, bass and drums/percussion as well acoustic solo. Diga musical influences are continually evolving. They include: Sacred Spirit, Kashtin, Hendrix, Tom Waits, John Mayer and David Gon and brothers.Awards: 2005 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards Winner: for the album ‘Earth Is Crying’ Nominated for ‘Best Folk Album’.2003 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards: Nominated for ‘Best Instrumental Album’, for the album ‘Father’.Albums: Forest Fire 2007 Earth Is Crying 2005 Father 2002.Performed with: The African Guitar Summit, Steve Dawson, Kashtin, Billy Joe Green, Chris Jagger.Opened for: THE WHITE STRIPES, Painting Daisies.Website: www.diga1921.com Contact: Bookings: Andrew Spaulding email: [email protected] Phone: 867-765-4789.
