About Me

Vinnie Angelo has been a performer and educator in the Bay Area music industry since the mid-1990’s, specializing in Drum Set, Latin Percussion, Orchestral Percussion, and Marching Percussion. From 2002-2006 he was involved on the percussion staff for the world-renowned “Concord Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps”. During that time he had served as a Front Ensemble Technician for the 11-time world champion ‘A’ Corps, Percussion Caption Head/Arranger & Staff Coordinator for the ‘B’ Corps, and as a Front Ensemble Technician and Arranger for the ‘C’ Corps.
As a private teacher, he introduces a fresh curriculum of his own concepts, and also passes on the techniques and information of HIS former instructors (who include): Raul Rekow (Conga drummer for the Carlos Santana Band), Alan Hall (former Drum Set teacher at the Berklee College of Music), Dave Black (former drummer for the Duke Ellington Band, and jazz drumming legend), and Tom Hemphill (Percussionist for the San Francisco Symphony).
As a performer Vinnie regularly gigs around the San Francisco-Bay Area, has toured nationally and in Europe, performing in: Jazz Big Bands, Funk/Rock and Reggae Bands, Indian/Afgan/Eastern groups, various Jazz Groups, local Symphonies, and Musical Theatre Orchestras. Performing in venues around the world including: Disneyland-Paris, Disneyland-Anaheim, the Concord Pavilion, Mile High Stadium, and Davies Symphony Hall. He has also appeared on recordings for Justin McRoberts and Brave Saint Saturn (5 Minute Walk Records).
Endorsements include: Thumper Custom Drums (endorser and clinician), Vic Firth Drumsticks (Educational Team member and endorser), and he is an exclusive user of Sibelius Music Notation Software.
Vinnie currently resides in the East Bay with his wife Sheila.
