Peppe Zuccalà, 32 anni

Chitarrista, compositore, arrangiatore e autore, opera nel settore da 20 anni, specialmente come tournista. Musicista classico di estrazione, si è poi negli anni dedicato estensivamente al rock-blues e in seguito all'approfondimento delle tecniche sulla chitarra acustica. Negli ultimi 10 anni, stimato ed apprezzato tournista in calabria, ha suonato con vari nomi noti tra cui Sabina Stilo, Michele Pecora, Ivan Cattaneo, Valerio Merola, Franco Oppini, Sergio Vastano etc. Negli ultimi 5 anni autore di molti brani pop rock italiani e folk; nel 2004 fonda gli ZES.

Il progetto ZES nasce nel novembre 2003 dal desiderio di cimentarsi con una voce e una chitarra a fare musica sul serio. L’esperienza maturata suonando in “duo” nei locali trova parecchio riscontro tra il pubblico, che vive questa situazione come qualcosa dal sapore assai confidenziale alla quale puo' prendere parte con molta facilita'. Il resto nasce quasi come per magia. Ognuno di noi ha dei brani che tiene chiusi nel cassetto da anni e che finalmente vede vivere all’improvviso in modo talmente naturale da chiedersi come mai tutto questo non sia successo prima. Così dalle serate nei locali si passa ai lunghi pomeriggi e alle nottate in studio, cercando di tirare fuori il giusto “sound”. Il legame con la musica d’oltre oceano che si manifesta nei testi scritti in inglese e in molte sfumature sonore, insieme alla continua ricerca di parole, contenuti e melodie semplici ma mai banali porta unicamente verso una direzione:

L’idea per questo primo lavoro è stata perciò quella di creare un genere musicale in acustico, o quasi, cercando di coniugare rock, pop, blues e country. Uno stile decisamente poco presente nel panorama musicale italiano. Qualcosa di facile a dirsi ma altrettanto difficile da realizzare. Comunicare con la semplicità e il calore degli strumenti acustici, senza però privarsi completamente del supporto tecnologico, ha dato dei risultati stupefacenti neanche lontanamente immaginabili. I testi nascono quasi tutti da esperienze di vita vissuta o da riflessioni interiori, dalle gioie e dalle amarezze di ogni giorno. Tutto questo e:

L' 8 febbraio del 2005 esce il primo album autoprodotto dal Titolo Rollin’ in cui tra le 12 tracce che lo compongono si possono ritrovare le sonorità calde proprie del country miste alle sonorità prettamente pop che contraddistinguono la nostra musica leggera. Considero questo primo lavoro, del quale sono molto soddisfatto, non come punto di arrivo bensì come uno stimolo per la ricerca di nuove soluzioni sonore e come l’inizio di un percorso e di una carriera all’insegna di una continua crescita artistica. Poco dopo ecco arrivare inaspettata la vittoria “a furor di popolo”, per così dire, nella 27° edizione del Girofestival, il 2 giugno 2005, andata in onda poi su RAI 3, RAI INTERANTIONAL, RAI SAT, RADIO KISS KISS, dal settembre dello stesso anno in poi. All’inizio dell’estate 2006 dopo un contratto editoriale firmato con l’etichetta indipendente CD CLUB ENTERTAINMENT , esce il primo singolo multimediale, tratto da " Rollin' "con videoclip annesso, dal titolo “Accanto a Te” che è appunto il brano vincitore del Girofestival. Sia il singolo che l’intero album sono in vendita presso circa 300 tra i più grandi e importanti online store mondiali, come iTunes, MSN, Google music, Yahoo music etc…e tutto questo e ancora:

E' appena stato ufficialmente pubblicato il 26/02/2009 il SECONDO ALBUM FIRMATO ZES .

Questo secondo album, il cui titolo è Stella, abbraccia delle nuove sonorità e come il primo lavoro, aggiunge, a mio parere, un'altro tassello mancante alla musica italiana, con un playing e un voicing innovativi e nello stesso tempo riecheggianti i grandi classici della musica mondiale; uno stile decisamente poco o per niente presente nel panorama musicale italiano. Le sonorità vanno particolarmente verso il ROCK, IL POP e IL BLUES, senza però mai perdere di vista il COUNTRY, ma non si limitano solamente all' "universo acustico" come in Rollin' poiche avendo concepito e arrangiato i brani per una band al completo ho potuto esplorare nuovi "universi sonori" attraverso i quali ho cercato, spero con buoni risultati, di esprimere al meglio la mia arte e la mia creatività di autore e compositore cercando di coniugare l'esaltazione della tecnica sullo strumento e la continua ricerca di sonorità innovative con l'orecchiabilità e la semplicità sempre incisiva delle strofe e dei ritornelli.

Peppe Zuccalà, 32 years old

Guitarist, composer, arranger and author, he’s been working in this field for 20 years , mainly as tours’ performer. He was born as a classical musician and during the years he went in for rock-blues and afterwards he delved into acoustic guitar techniques. In the last 10 years, esteemed and appreciated tours’ performer, he has been performing with a lot of famous artists like Michel Pecora, Ivan Cattaneo and Valerio Merola. In the last 5 years author of many Italian pop rock and folk songs; in 2004 he founds the ZES band.

The ZES project was born on Novovember 2003 starting from the wish to seriously make music by a guitar and a voice. The experience taken playing in “duo” in the pubs meets a lot of admiration among people that take this situation as something tasting much familiar to which they can participate very easily. All the rest was born almost for magic. Everybody’s got songs stored in a desk for years and one day eventually realizes that these songs at once can be alive in a so natural way that is unavoidable to wonder why all this didn’t happen before. Thus starting from the performances in the pubs one comes to long afternoons and nights spent in the recording studio, trying to catch out the right “sound”. The link with the overseas music is very evident cause of the lyrics written in English and many musical nuances, and all this mixed with the never-ending quest for words, contents and very simple but never banal melodies leads only to a direction:

The idea concerning this first work was therefore to create an acoustic or quasi-acoustic musical genre trying to match Rock, Pop, Blues and Country; a very briefly existing style in the Italian musical landscape. Just a very easy to say but hard to do thing! Communicating by the simplicity of acoustic instruments without getting quite rid of technological support gave neither far away presumable amazing results. All the lyrics were almost born either by real life experiences or interior thoughts, from the joy and the bitterness of everyday. All this is:

On February the 8th 2005 the first self-produced album entitled Rollin’ was released. In its 12 tracks the warm sonorities of the country music mixed with the pop sonorities of our classic Italian songs can be found. I don’t consider this first work ,whose I’m pretty satisfied, as the arrival of my career but I consider it as the starting point of a career characterized by a continuous artistic growth and by the stimulus to quest always for new musical solutions. In few time came the unexpected victory with a “standing ovation” at 27th edition of the Girofestival on June the 2nd 2005, then broadcasted on RAI 3, RAI INTERNATIONAL, RAI SAT, RADIO KISS KISS since September of the same year. At the beginning of the summer 2006, after the signature of an editorial contract with the independent label CD CLUB ENTERTAINMENT , the first single multi-medial track was released. Its title was Accanto a Te (Next to You) taken from Rollin’ that is the winner song at the Girofestival. Whether the single track and the full album are for sale on nearly 300 of the biggest and most important worldwide online stores as iTunes, MSN, Google music, Yahoo music etc…and all this is still:

The new SECOND ALBUM SIGNED ZES has just officially been released on 02/26/2009.
The reviews and the songs of this new album are available in the apposite ZES band Myspace .
This new album entitled Stella (Star) hugs new sonorities and as the first one adds, from my point of view, another missing brick to the Italian pop music, by an innovative and in the meantime echoing the big classics of the worldwide music playing and voicing. A firmly briefly existing style in the Italian musical landscape. In particular the sonorities look toward ROCK, POP, BLUES without losing the COUNTRY style but without the limits of the “acoustic universe” as it was in Rollin’. As matter of fact I thought and arranged the songs for a full band so I could explore new “musical universes” thru which I tried, I hope with good results, to express in the best way my art and my creativity as author and composer trying to link the exaltation of the instrumental technique and the never-ending quest for new sonorities with easiness of listening and the always penetrating simplicity of the stanzas and the choruses.
