There are many styles of Tai Chi and the poll above list only the main families. If the style you practice is not listed, please check "others". There are lesser known family styles such as Zhaobao, Li, Song as well as the popular Practical Tai Chi Chuan International (also known as Wudang Tai Chi Chuan) and Cheng Man Ching style.

Since there isn't a facility to write down the style you practice. For the purpose of research, please msg me the style and I'll make a note of it.

The Spirit of Wudang

Tai Chi or Taijichuan as we know it today originated from Chen Style (Chen Jia Gou, Henan Province). From Chen Style, came Yang Style and from the later came Wu, Wu/Hao and Sun styles. These are the main family styles of Tai Chi. However, the Chen family were not those that created and developed Tai Chi. That came from Zhang San Feng, the Daoist master from Wudang Mountain during the late Song Dynasty. He himself did not create Tai Chi from nothing, but took common fighting techniques such as those of Shaolin and merged them together with more than 3000 years Daoist internal arts. From which Tai Chi is has become not simply a martial art, but a way of life. Tai Chi teaches you perception, balance and how they can improve one's life. This covers every aspect, from eating, sleeping and society. We use martial arts training as a way to improve our health and in times of need, use our skills and knowledge to defend. Hench, Tai Chi is one of the fine points of Chinese culture.

Tai Chi is first and foremost a martial art. Learning and training without acknowledging the martial aspect means the essence is gone ... As some great masters have said, what looks like Tai Chi, sometimes isn't...
