Ryan Mumby started playing guitar at the age of thirteen and came from a musical family. His uncle, who was a guitarist himself plus vocalist and pianist, toured professionally for twenty years. But strangely enough Mumby's interest in music and the business was piqued when his older brother started working for the Black Crowes.
Ryan started out as a heavy metal guitar player but was quickly drawn to the blues like a magnet. A real natural, by the age seventeen he was sitting in at the Kingston Mines in Chicago with the likes of Nellie Tiger Travis and many others. Ryan has had several bands that he put together and was always the front man. Joining up with Michael Charles and His Band in 2006 was a real new spot for him. But since he's been with Charles he tasted his first live recording on radio, his first live recording on television, and among the festivals, the recordings in the studio, traveling out of state, he will now add international touring to his resume when Michael Charles takes Ryan and his full band to his homeland shores in Australia for the "Full Circle Tour" in 2008. About his right hand man, who actually stands on his left, MC says "Ryan's talent is obviously a gift he was born with. And it has been nurtured through the years. But his feel, it's his feel, especially during his solos, that continually amazes me. And that can only come from within".
