About Me

a
By jnkacme JNK a.k.a.JENKY, JENX, creator and master mind of ACME SOUNDZ, in one way or another has always been involved music. He started playing the bass in a punk band at the age of 14 back in his home town of Sardinia Italy. After playing in different sorts of bands and different instruments (bass, guitar, singing) he realized that there was nothing more to discover over there and in 1996 he decided to move to the "always dreamed" London to see the roots of the 70's-80's punk scene ............................................................ ..................He went to all possible old skool punk, ska, hard core concerts but he was a bit let down with the fact that after their two hour concerts, there was nothing to party about. It was then that he begun to go clubbing and squat parties where he heard for the first time the Drum'n'Bass beat.It was very similar to what he was used to listening to and playing, broken beats, hard, fast, agressive music. He thought it was amazing and fall in love straight away. He kept going to techno parties with the hope of finding a D'n'B where he could listen and dance his new loved music all night ............................................................ ...............................It was in 2001 back from travelling that he decided to get the first pair of technics, and start djing. In june 2002 JNK played for the first time in an outdoor party in Somerset (Alternative Glastonbury). He soon started playing around, in small clubs, squat parties, private house parties, and in a friend's bar in Ibiza (Noctambula) ...........................................................I n 2004 gathering a few Djs and buying his first couple of speakers and created what now is ACME SOUNDZ. Acme made its first appearance in an easter bank holiday squat party in 2004 linking up with loads of other London rigs. Since then JNK has always been involved in major underground events in London and Europe (Czech Republic, France, Poland, Italy, Sardinia), taking his rig and his crew always with him. For years has been working for major techno promoter such as Family Groove and MFM Sound, taking care of the DnB rooms of their parties. Now organizing together with Acme Soundz fellows their new Walk The Plank party. ............................................................ .................................Always active, playing around JNK has played alongside big names such as Grooverider, Technical Itch, Noisia, BCUK, Dom&Roland, Ray Keith, Raiden and many more in venues like the SeOne club, The Coronet, The Mass and other big clubs in London and Italy. He plays mainly upfront, heavy, hard, dark, techy drum'n'Bass but you can also find him playing jump up and ragga jungle. Recently playing out lots of Dubstep, he also plays new skool breaks, dubstep, ska, rocksteady and old skool punk (always keep your roots up!!). His sets are never predictable, the only thing that remains the same is that his sets are always very energetic and whether you like Drum'n'Bass or not you surprisingly find yourself dancing to his music. He is now playing the bass in a DnB-Trip Hop-Punk band called The Pinsickers (check them out on top friends). ............................................................ .......................He thinks Drum'n'Bass is the best thing that happened to electronic music, he sais "It is the only music that has got all kinds of influences (hip hop, reggae, metal, punk, ambient chill out etc.) it is like an "everyone music made from everyone and for everyone." You only have to find out what kind of D'n'B you like the most and you will never stop listening to it."

Influences: My punk-rock backgrounds have a lot of influences in what I play, both when I am DJing and when I play the bass in my band. I am definitely influenced by my everyday life, the city I live (London), the things I do/see and the people I see everyday and the dreams I follow...................................................... ........... My musical influences are also from bands such as Crass, CCCP, Sex Pistols, Peter&Test Tube Babies, Damned, Buzzcocks, Minor Threat, The Stooges, Dead Kennedys, Unwanted, Subhumans, The Meteors, Toy Dolls, The Specials, Madness, The Clash, Massive Attack, Beastie Boys, Lee Scratch Perry, The Ethiopians, Toots & the Maytals, Skammi Ska, Obscure Sound, Sa Razza, Dead Silence and many more. And Djs/producers such as Technical Itch, Resonant Evil, Friction, Bad Company, Fierce, Phace, Noisia, Break , Kenny Ken, Vicious Circle, Ink, Twisted Individual, Chriss Liebing and more.
Sounds Like: Drum'n'Bass, HARD drum n bass, from more deep and techy stuff to Jump up. Same with Dubstep, the harder deeper dancier side of it. Anything that has that punky vibe.
