Combining spacerock's traditional elements of heavy rock and sci-fi lyrics with trademark vocal harmonies and progressive , Xoo is bringing something new to the spacerock genre.
With musical influences ranging from Pink Floyd and Motorhead to Hawkwind, Can and Blue Oyster Cult, not to mention classic German films, cosmology, psychology and cynical humour, there's a lot in the Xoo melting pot, but all of it held together by the solid bass riffing, powerful drumming and heavy guitar that you've come to expect from British spacerock.
Based around the nucleus of Kevin Perry (guitar, vocals, samples), James Hodkinson (bass, vocals, keyboards) and keyboardist Andy Cobley (keyboards, synths), and newest member Kit Marsden (drums, perussion), with occasional special guests such as Ben Deschamps and the enigmatic Mrs P, the band has already produced a wide range of material: from 2003's concept album ANU World Order ("...excursion into the realms of Babylonian mythology, ziggurat block parties and George Dubya's imperialist ambitions"), through 2004's Wolves In The Walls (based on the graphic novel by British fantasy author Neil Gaiman, who has raved about it on his blog) to 2008's album Poison In The Name Of Beauty (which has received much online airplay and great reviews) and the recent 4 track EP Brain Tattoo.
