On November 19, 1983, an unnamed baby was born. In an ordinary hospital in Hartford, Connecticut, this baby, just like every baby, was born without a title or degree; however, this baby was born without anyone to give him a name. Probably named something endearing by the nurses or doctor that assisted in the delivery, this baby lacked a name but still had every sign of unique purpose and destiny. As the year passes, this baby is adopted and finally given a name, BYRON JAMAL LEACH.
By 1991, months have turned into years. The young Byron Jamal is now an adolescent, cognizant of his decisions, and, at 8-years-old, without any persuasion except the Holy Spirit, this young lad gave his life to Jesus and became a licensed Baptist preacher July 2003. For some the life’s story gets better, but for Byron Jamal many years of sickness, depression, loneliness, confusion, and abuse ensued. However, through every attack on his life, Byron Jamal has proven that through Christ's strength he is able to survive. He stands firm on the belief that "Every Setback is Truly a Setup For a Divine Comeback"!
Living the lines of a very popular song--"Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come"--Byron Jamal is a practical biblical scholar that fuses ancient sacred text with present societal situations to empower, equip, and encourage all people to surpass their past and delve into their destiny.
Under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Michael D. Green of the New St. Mark COGIC, Byron Jamal grew beyond mere knowledge of the Bible into powerful demonstration and application. Serving as a consultant to Pittsburgh Theological Seminary's Metro-Urban Institute, Byron Jamal has become known for being a peripatetic writer, poet, preacher, teacher, civil activist and community organizer that uses unadulterated truth as a weapon against the lies of the enemy and Jesus' words in Luke 4:18-19, he teaches both a spiritual and social message of hope that emboldens the poor, enlivens the brokenhearted, extricates the bruised captive, and emends the blind. "He that hath ears to hear, let him hear."
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord." (Luke 4:18-19)
