A priori was formed in Jagodina, Serbia, in autumn 1999 by composer and pianist/keyboardist Slavisa Malenovic. Music performed by A Priori is inspired by the folklore of the Balkans with influences of jazz, progressive rock, world music, classical music and electronic music.
The band's debut was at World music festival Etnomus in Jagodina in 1999. In the next two years, band participated and perfomed at several music festivals across the country. In 2002, the group took a brake, although the founder of the group Slavisa Malenovic continued working on various projects such as music scores for theater performances.
In 2006, Slavisa Malenovic renewed the A priori group as a trio consisting of Slavisa Malenovic – Keyboard, Miodrag Antic – Guitar and Vladislav Dopudja – Bass guitar.Slavisa Malenovic & A priori performed at:Etnomus festival – Jagodina, Serbia, in 1999
