A painter paints his pictures on canvas.
But musicians paint their pictures on silence.
We provide the music,
and you provide the silence.
-Leopold Stokowski
I'm a 23 year old vocal performer, conductor, composer, and choral education major in my fifth year at CSUF. I direct a San Diego-based community choir of high school students called Capella, an ensemble of the North Coast Singers Youth Chorus. I teach beginning piano lessons from my apartment in Orange County (yes, complete with piano-based music theory). I also dabble with the guitar.
About The Music
Debussy, Scarlatti, Schubert: These three pieces were recorded at my Senior Recital at California State University, Fullerton.
Faerie Songs on a Midsummer Night: Note: not me singing. These are kids in a children's choir. I'm conducting. The next three pieces currently posted are my own compositions. They are a song cycle (of three) meant to be performed together, based on Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," focusing only on the faeries. They are for two part children's or treble choir. These pieces were written for and debuted by the North Coast Singers Youth Chorus' Caprice ensemble in 2004. These recordings are from 2008, when I guest-conducted them in concert.
Four Old English Carols, No. 3, by Gustav Holst:
This is a solo I was given in a choral performance in 2007 at my university. The choir is Cal State Fullerton's Women's Choir, under the direction of Dr. Erin Colwitz.
Please Hang Up and Try Again:
This is just up for a joke...it was one of my final projects for a music technology course at school. It was made on Garageband in about two hours and it's ridiculous. Enjoy.
Famine Song:
This is a performance by the North Coast Singers' mixed voice ensemble, Capella, which I have been directing since Fall 2008.
Thanks for listening!
