Birthed in the first half of this decade, Styrofoam Duck is the
brainchild of lifelong Twin Cities resident Benjamin Brockway, who has
steered the group through a variety of sonic approaches and numerous
lineup changes. Within the last two years, the band and the man have
cemented a reputation as one of the preeminent purveyors of
Minneapolitan noisy rock tantrum, running the gamut from fried-circuit
percussive vamps to improv-as-Wright-Brothers-flight to blown-out
Kraut psyche trek. Audiences in the Cities' many underground venues
have been both dumbfounded and moved to bodily congress by the band's
at once shambolic and yet transcendant live sets. Ben and his rotating
set of accomplices have shared the stage with the likes of Sightings
(Load Records), Neptune (Table of the Elements), and Old Time Relijun
(K Records). Having just wrapped up a short tour eastward, Styrofoam
Duck will be headed to the Southwest and Deep South in late January.
