WHITEACRE’s name came from the Old English spelling of Jason and Jonathan’s last name, Whitaker. The Whitaker brothers along with Tommy Ballard and Jody Medford all grew up together in Western North Carolina developing an appreciation for Southern Rock, deep rooted country music and the vocal harmony of the groups of the past.
Jason and Jonathan provide the power behind the four-part harmony, and Tommy and Jody provide the range. Tommy Ballard has an incredible Tenor voice, and Jody Medford is one of the lowest bass singers in the country right now. Combined, they make up a dynamic vocal group who's Harmony is unmistakable.WHITEACRE has headlined theater shows in WNC as well as The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, Balsam Mountain Preserve, NC Mountain State Fair and Bele Chere. Audiences from all over have enjoyed the Harmony, Music and Energy of WHITEACRE.
