CONGRATULATE ME LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS...IM NOW IN LAS VEGAS
OK So I was born in Miami, Florida. I lived in the Los Angeles, California area for many years. In August of 1977, I auditioned in L.A. for the Broadway show "Beatlemania" The producers had come to Los Angeles to form a west coast cast. The mother of my son Sheree, who I was married to at the time, saw in the trade papers that they were holding auditions for the show "Beatlemania" and suggested that I go and try out for the part of "George". She even let me use a khaki jacket of hers that kind of looked like the Shea jackets the Beatles wore at Shea Stadium. I got the part of "George" and was eventually sent to Chicago to perform Beatlemania onstage at the Blackstone Theater. The show played there for six months, then moved on to the Taft Theater in Cincinnati, Ohio. From there, I toured all over the world with Beatlemania, performing the show in London, Holland, South Africa, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Cleveland, Ohio and also St. Louis, Missouri (where Lisa Wagner was in the audience she later became my web master for my web site www.jimmypou.com...).
I started to venture off and audition for other projects after being with
Beatlemania for several years. In 1983, I joined a heavy metal band called
"Fanz". 1983 was also the year that Beatlemania stopped full production.
Members of the cast formed their own Beatlemania shows and began touring,
using such names as, "Former Members Of The Cast Of Beatlemania". I started freelancing, playing with seven different Beatlemania groups at one time, a different one every weekend. In 1993, I received a phone call from Gary Grimes of "1964 The Tribute", asking me to fill in for Tom Teeley, who was playing "George" with them at the time. Shortly after that I joined "1964 the Tribute" permanently. We performed at Carnegie Hall in New York a total of six times, (pretty proud of that). In August 1999, I released "Four Little Ditties", my first solo CD containing four original songs, to see if there would be any kind of positive reaction to my music. The response from fans was quite positive. I released my second solo full length CD, "A Dozen Scrambled Daze", in July 2001. In 2003 I recorded my latest CD "Puddingstone Lake" with Chris Huston producing (www.chrishuston.com). I eventually left "1964 the Tribute" in May of 2006 and went off to Branson, Missouri to perform a show that was supposed to last at least two years but lasted only two weeks. I ended up in Nashville, Tennessee since I rented out my house in California to pursue my solo music career. Now happy and living in Las Vegas, I had been free lancing with several Beatle Tribute bands until I decided to join the great band "Beatlemania Now" permanently, and now and then booking my solo one man show called "An Evening With George". I would like to thank Karma because now I'm on top of the world again, I have recorded a CD with a solo artist here in Vegas, Bill Donati, and I am also in rehearsal with my new singing duo partner, Lizzy Debolt, check her out @ www.myspace.com/graphichookdesigns a very talented singer and guitarist and all around sweet and beautiful person, inside and out, and we plan to be playing in Las Vegas soon, we just completed our promo CD and promo video so stay tuned.
