About Me

Pam Daley and Beyond the Blue perform an eclectic mixture of acoustic songs (original and traditional) ranging in style from Americana, Folk, Gospel Bluegrass and beyond (hence the name) . Daley, originally from Pittsburgh, PA has called Tennessee home for the past 16 years. She is one of the original founding members of the popular NY State Bluegrass band, Cornerstone, who recorded their first album on Music Row with former Alison Krauss producer, Bill Vorndick in 1992.
Pam recently released her first solo album that she had been steadily and tenaciously working on for over three years. The album consists of eight original songs along with three songs (including the title track) wonderfully crafted by band mate Robert Gateley, as well as a haunting accapella tune written by former band mate, Chris Stuart. Produced by Pam and Keith Little, the album features guest artists Claire Lynch, Rob Ickes, Chris Jones, David Harvey, Ned Luberecki, Robert Gateley, Patty Mitchell, Jeremy Garrett, Ron Stewart, Jon Martin and David Grier. The songs on the CD are a genuine expression of Pam's heart and soul through the experiences she has had over the years. Pam writes: "My hope is that listeners will be inspired by the songs and get to know me a little more intimately from the content of the lyrics, which are full of hope, faith, courage, perseverance, longing and healing".
The CD will soon be available for purchase at CDbaby.com
Meanwhile it can be purchased by contacting [email protected]
Album: Claire Lynch "Friend's For a Lifetime"
Track 13 - "After the Storm" was written by Pam and was her first "cut", which was an absolute honor considering Claire is one of her favorite singers. Pam is thrilled to have Claire's harmony vocals on a handful of songs on her new CD. Listen to Claire's beautiful harmony vocal on "Blood Mountain".

Pam Daley & Beyond the Blue featuring Patty Mitchell and Robert Gateley was formed in May 2006. The band’s focus is on its strong original material and the three-part squeeze-em-till-they-cry harmonies that spring out of these veteran bluegrass musicians.

Pam Daley is one of the founding members of popular Ithaca, NY based band Cornerstone with Chris Stuart. They were the 1991 winners of the (then) Winterhawk band contest and soon afterward began work on their 1992 debut recording “Maggie’s Daughter”. The album of mostly original material was immediately embraced by listeners and the title song made it on the Bluegrass charts. In 1992 Cornerstone showcased at the IBMA Trade Show in Owensboro, KY. Pam wrote “After the Storm” which was recorded by Claire Lynch on her “Friends for a Lifetime” album. Pam co-wrote” Mary’s Song” with Chris Stuart on Prime Cuts of Bluegrass, Volume 12. Nicknamed “songbird” around town, Pam’s voice has been described as a mix of “smoky breathiness with a country edge”. She is the lead singer and rhythm guitar player in BTB.

Patty Mitchell was raised in a musical family with her two brothers and two sisters by parents who hosted the Perrin Festival--one of the finest Bluegrass events in Texas for more than a decade--she recorded for the first time when she was just eight years old. Patty’s long-awaited self-produced recording, These are the Good Old Days, was officially released in January of 2004. It is all-acoustic and features some of Bluegrass Music’s most celebrated musicians including Jim Hurst, Missy Raines, Casey Driessen, David Harvey, Keith Little, and Robert Gateley.

Patty has lent her voice to a number of noteworthy recordings. She performs the duet “Little Willie” with Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley on his Grammy-nominated and IBMA award-winning release, Clinch Mountain Sweethearts, which includes Dolly Parton, Joan Baez, Chely Wright, Sara Evans, and Gillian Welch, among others. Patty also contributes supporting vocals for singer/songwriter/producer Gail Davies on her releases: Live and Unplugged at the Station Inn, named by Nashville Scene Magazine as a Top Ten release of 2001, and Davies’ The Songwriter Sessions, and for Emmylou Harris’ cut of “Wondering” on the highly-acclaimed Caught in the Webb tribute to Country Music Hall of Fame member (the late) Webb Pierce-a cut which has also made its way onto Harris’ multi-disc release Songbird. Patty also supports John Cowan’s vocal on “The Voice,” from Moody Bluegrass, a tribute to the Moody Blues produced by David Harvey.

Since moving to the Nashville area, Patty has performed at the Grand Ole Opry with the Gail Davies' Band, and the Ryman Auditorium, as well as for Fest de Ville at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

Robert Gateley - grew up as a rock drummer in the late 60's early 70's and played drums for Tanya Tucker in '75 and '76. Robert played bass for John Hartford on one of his last albums "Speed of the Old Long Bow". His lead and baritone harmony vocals are showcased in Beyond the Blue along with his wealth of original songs. Robert wrote two songs on Doyle Lawson's Grammy nominated CD including the title cut "The Hard Game of Love" and "Nightingale". He is most recently credited for penning "Heat of the Morning" for the Cherryholmes. Robert plays guitar and bass in the band.

Jon Martin - It is no wonder Jon's roots are deep in bluegrass. Born in the North Carolina mountains and growing up in Virginia, Jon was surrounded by music in his household. From getting his first guitar at 12 and hearing the sounds of bluegrass from Doyle Lawson at the age of 16, he was hooked. In his late teens, Jon played guitar for Lynchburg local band, Dutchmen's Branch. Landing in Bristol while attending college, he played in bands while expanding his friendships with many of the area's bluegrass musicians. Moving to Nashville in 1989, his first night in town was spent at a Tony Rice show at The Station Inn! Since then, Jon has come to know his heros to now be his friends. He has played with so many he has admired, his friends (many of whom he met in Bristol), doing session work, and has enjoyed the dream of playing such places as the Station Inn, Ryman Auditorium, and Bluebird Cafe'. With talents in singing and songwriting, Jon is best known for his tremendous mandolin playing. You can catch Pam Daley and Beyond the Blue at Kimbro’s Café and Pickin’ Parlor in Historic Downtown Franklin where they play regularly to an enthusiastic crowd. Pam hosts “Bluegrass Thursdays at Kimbro’s Café” which she launched in July 2005 which rotates a growing list of local acoustic bands who wish to showcase their talents locally.

Kind words from nice folks:"Pam Daley is quite simply one of the most powerful, emotional, and captivating singers in acoustic music today. Whatever she is singing, she makes it her own. She can sing a cover song so that you can't imagine anyone else ever having done it, and her original songs come from a deep well of passion and redemption. If I had to buy just one CD this year, it would be Pam's."

-Chris Stuart

"Pam is an immaculate singer, an enthusiastic performer, a beautiful woman and has a totally good band. Four outta four ain't bad…this is really good stuff…”

- Paul Craft

“Pam’s smile itself could fill any venue – not to mention the great vocals and top-notch musicians she surrounds herself with. Her songwriting stands above the rest with intelligent lyrics and intriguing melodies that you find yourself singing along to after having just heard the song for the first time. Her song “Blood Mountain” always draws listeners to ask “When can I get this CD you’re working on so I can have a recording of that song?” By the way club owners, if you really want to see your staff hustle – book this band!"
