Artist’s Statement:My name is William Wolf. My medium is oil paints, painting on the wall. I have first used oils while attending F.H. LaGuardia H.S. for the Performing Arts in New York City. I have explored with it ever since. Originality is my motivation, Vincent Van Gogh is my teacher, Nature and Geometry is my inspiration. I have created a new, one of a kind of oil painting technique. Due to the significance of contrast the work must be exhibited in a dimmed, idealy low lit atmosphere. The intended effect depends entirely on the surrounding lighting which simply enveils it. Texture, Color and Composition are the signature trademarks of my artwork. The paint itself cannot be too stiff or too flexible. The exact amount of linseed oil must be applied in order to achieve the desired consistency. A flat brush does the rest. It has to be held at a specific angle, showering its bristles with intentionally placed paint. The end result resembles what I would call “Pixellism” as opposed or related to “Pointillism.” The idea of numerous “Pixels” might well hide behind the idea of “Creation” itself. As we look at the past, the present and even try to predict the distant future we systematically see an organism within or next to another organism. The smaller the object, the more difficult it becomes to be observed. There isn’t a single microscope on our Planet able to pinpoint “not emptiness or absence, but the Uncreated that preceded all creation, the beginningless potential of all things.” * After a while we realize that we always derive at the same conclusion: Everything and Everyone is made up of mind and/or matter. The nominal creates the small as the big creates the colossal. Every brush stroke, when completed, creates the Master Painting. Nature and Geometry dominate my work, the abstract way of expressing these two subjects and objects fuels my imagination.
