About Me

WUSC 90.5 FM Presents The Feminist Show (Mondays 6-8 pm): hosted by Gretchen (Lady Miss Gee) and DJ Jordan.
Feminist Thinker and Activist bell hooks wrote in her 2001 publication Feminism is for Everybody: Passionate Politics, "If we do not create a mass based movement which offers feminist education to everyone, females and males, feminist theory and practice will always be undermined by negative information produced in most mainstream media."
Gloria: The Best in Feminist Conscious and Womens Music attempts to do just this while still rocking out on Columbia's one and only 90.5 fm WUSC. The Feminist Show plays a wide variety of women's music from different countries, genres, and generations. On it you will hear Bessie Smith singing the blues, The Slits giving it to you 70's punk style, Lucinda Williams' poetic story telling, world divas like Miriam Makeba, classic "womyn" musicians like Holly Near, and of course, the best in Riot Girl Music. Every week we have recommended conscious raising books, films, and art. Guests from the women studies department and outside activists of any sex are always welcome. Listen on Mondays 6-8 pm for an educational and rocking good time.
* The Feminist Show was awarded "Best Specialty Show Fall 2006" by the WUSC executive staff. Contact: Gretchen [email protected] or Jordan at [email protected] for more info or to be a guest.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Activists in the community that I live in, people who are committed to making the world a safer place for women and children, women who play rock music, women and men who volunteer for any of the amazing non-profit organizations in Columbia or the world, women who aren't afraid to start a band, men who support women in bands, good people, and people who listen to WUSC-FM Columbia regularly. And Robin Morgan. ;)
