About Me

So There's This Girl...
I've waited my whole life to start a story with those four words.
There I am one day at another shithole bar turning time into a dime when
my perfect 'About a Girl' story walks right through the front door.
The change wasn't quick or painless and it all happened right before my eyes.
For ten wonderful months, Heather would show up on Monday
nights to sing as I sat tables. Sort of became our little
date night away from our significant others.
I Believe in Love at First Sight and the Crush was Immediate
While I was falling in love with the singer, we talked from time to time
about me bringing my djembe out and sitting in.
The night I finally made good on that promise would become
the first night of the rest of my life. Seriously though...
Today that bar is a memory we like to smile about from time to time and we've
been writing and playing music together in love ever since!
There you have it, the story of how The House of Music was started.
There was too much booze involved with that evening to remember much.
I know that we played some music together, and apparently liked it...
Well into the night!
I Like Music! I like to write it, to play it, to record it, to amp it up way too loud, then put it on cd's for my friends...
Be sure to check out my favorite Kansas City singer/ songwriter, Heather Thornton, at HeatherThorntonMusic.com . You should recognize me on the Djembe on a couple of the tracks from her 'Open Road' album!
As a musician, I've always wanted to be involved with fresh, well thought and well written music that didn't suck. I've found that playing with Heather Thornton and our camp of Kansas City Musicians. The music keeps getting better and better the more we play it!
What else can I say about myself...
I take pictures, of everything and anything. I build things out of wood, metal, plaster, duct tape, thumb tacks, plastic and anything else that I can bend and manipulate to do my bidding. I play broken guitar as a second language and the drums as a first. I dream of leading the way to outer space with the use of the Excellent Art of Mathematics. I have 1 cat, Sunshine, 1 gourami, The Guy ( RIP The Other Guy), 2 betas, Irwin ( after the late great Steve) and Merlin
1 5-1/2 foot ball python named Monty Python
10 fingers and 10 toes and close to 80 assorted house plants
most with names of their very own!
I like change!
I have been so many different things in life that who I was yesterday would
barely recognize who I am today, and that's awesome. I don't believe in three strikes no matter what the game is... I am a Scorpio. I do like games though especially ones that make you have to act the fool to get your team to guess the correct answer. I don't like to cheat, but do appreciate a team mate that has cheating down to a fine art...
I like to Win!
I like girls ( especially my main squeeze Heather Thornton). I like boys
but not like I like girls. I like Martians, especially little green ones
with antennas sticking out of their heads. I've never been abducted by aliens
but I was abducted by a light blue VW Bus full of stinky hippies one time.
I wish I could remember that summer...
I like parties, especially clothing- optional beach/ pool parties. I usually don't
like most of the people who exercise that option as their only
source of exercise though.
I like to write...

Tools of the Trade
A man is only as good as his toys...
Anyone out there making a living on music knows
you have to have an image these days.
Though not as important as the music itself, it is
definitely a close second.
Unfortunate as this may be, here we are...

For all of the Beautiful People out there, it's a cinch
but what about the rest of us?
What are the tools that enable one to achieve this?
Music?... of course
Pictures?... tricky, but good
Videos?... love em
The list goes on and on, but what is it that makes
these things work for one person
and not the other?
Talent, sure. Timing, maybe. Right place probably. Equipment most definitely, but there are people
making moves without any of these things

I've had a lot of hobbies in my days.
Some I played... some played me!
Recently, I have started to look at many
of my talents in a different light!
Drums, Guitar, Photography, Graphic Design and
Web Site Design, Sound Recording and
Engineering, Accounting and Record Keeping...

Sounds like the beginning of a Great Career!
Right now, I am 'Pretty Good' at a lot of things
but I still need to pactice a whole lot.
I will figure it all out, just a matter of time...
Until then, I'll just keep having fun
playing around!
