Exploding onto Melbourne's heavy metal scene, Unknown Addiction are assaulting the senses with furious riffs, fast-paced rhythms and shredding that hasn't been showcased since post-grunge alternative rock arrived in the 90s.
Drawing from such influences as Megadeth, Arch Enemy and Pantera, Unknown Addiction have injected their own brand of speed metal into an already intense blend of progressive rock and old-school attitude. Combined with confronting lyrics, the band delivers power, presence and balls.
The band formed in 2004 after some initial shuffles saw two of its original members take on other priorities in their lives. Founding members Ivan Rados and James Wilson teamed up with Another Way drummer Evan Bradley and Ash Wednesday bass player Jason Meracis to complete Unknown Addiction’s first official line up. The band enthusiastically set off on their journey; writing and recording material which they began to play live around Melbourne throughout 2005.
Later that year Evan left the band and the search for a new drummer began. Unfortunately it was almost a full year before Unknown Addiction auditioned Daniel Berry... however the wait was worth it. Daniel blew the band away with his technical ability and enthusiasm. His musical influences and personality sealed the deal and Daniel joined the band in November 2006.
Unknown Addiction have since been doing a number of gigs around Melbourne including playing in the Emergenza Festival which the band was asked to participate in. UA got to the state finals playing in front of a large crowd at Billboards (Melbourne) but didn't get through to the Australian finals in Sydney (it is hard when electro pop bands bring a couple of hundred people to vote for them...yes i did say that)!
Since then, unfortunately there has been a few hiccups with Daniel, and his role in the band ended (good luck with everything Dan)....on the bright side Unknown Addiction did not muck around with finding their new drummer, young Nick Trajanovski. Joining the band in April '08 Nick showed the band he was up for challenge and didn't stuff around by getting straight into it with the band playing gigs and now recording (way to go dude)! Unknown Addiction can now get the job done recording their 1st album which will hopefully be out by mid '09. Stay tuned for more info and new demos coming to the band myspace "VERY" soon. Stay METAL!!!!
