KMD (Kausing Much Damage, or a positive Kause in a Much Damaged society) was a hip-hop trio in the early 1990s best known for launching the career of acclaimed MC and Producer MF Doom, who at the time was known as Zev Love X. Other members of the group were Zev Love X's younger brother DJ Subroc and Rodan, who at the time went by the name Onyx the Birthstone Kid.After guesting on 3rd Bass' song "The Gas Face", the trio released the acclaimed and overlooked Mr. Hood full-length album. Their political outlook was similar to the group Brand Nubian, who guested on Hood; however, the style was more comical and included a great deal of clips from old children's recordings, mostly notably a sample of the Sesame Street character Bert on the single "Humrush".The group, minus Onyx, later recorded a controversial album titled Bl_ck B_st_rds in 1994. The album was shelved due to its controversial cover, which depicts a Sambo caricature being hung in a game of hangman, with the three letter "A"s as the only letters not filled in. After Subroc's unexpected death from a car crash during the production of Bl_ck B_st_rds, Zev vanished from the music scene and reappeared as MF Doom.
