About Me

Since about 2000 I've been writing my original, acoustic songs, most of which have sprung from my personal faith and the struggle to which such a journey calls us.
Actually, if you want to bring it back further, my first performance of any song of my own, to any type of audience was back in my Junior year of High School ('96), when I performed a simple song during the High School Talent Show for basically the entire city of Fort Bragg (small town folks). Here's a shot at the lyrics, with a little "king james" style English, in the interest of rhyming. Here goes:
"Nails in His hands,
Nails in His Feet,
Lord you gave your life,
For love and mercy..."Upon the cross,
You bore my sins for me,
Lord you died for me,
I will live for Thee..."
Ok, there was more, but I digress. My second public performance was of "Compassion" in Rome, at a 'Cafe' street venue during World Youth Day 2000. It was a surprise performance and I was unprepared. Most of the attendants were from Spain, France and of course Italy, and they were playing some very energetic dancing worship songs, and let me tell you, they could dance! Us stuff-shirt Americans felt a little uneasy.
About a year later I began working in youth ministry in the Santa Clara County, and through this I formed a band, whose longest standing name (there were quite a few), was "Crosswalk" (jam, jam, jam... inside joke. sorry, you know, band stuff). for the past few years I've been a solo act, playing at various events that I will some day have the time to record on this page if it really matters to anyone... which I doubt.
I've been getting these 'taps on the shoulder' lately from God, speaking through the events and people of my life, and through prayer, that is telling me I need to put some more energy into this part of my life; into sharing my song... through my music.
Music for me is the expression of the deepest pulses of one's faith, experience, or hopes. Music is not God, but it seeks God at the core. You can see the way you seek meaning in your life by what you listen to, and what kind of god you worship has much to do with how you worship... this does not mean that every song you listen to or sing has to be 'churchy,' but it will reveal what it is that you consider sacred, holy, amazing, or worth singing about!
So, in the words/lyrics of one of my favorite bands, Jars of Clay... "Sing another love song..." with your life, and search yourself to see if that Love Song glorifies God, and brings real, sacred love to earth and infuses meaning into your life and others. Celebrate God's love for you, and live out that Love song in every part of your life. Every action and every word, and every song of worship. Sing another Love song!
