At 30 years of age, Nathan Furst has already composed the themes and underscores of over forty film and television projects, with soundtrack albums by Varese Sarabande and Lakeshore Records establishing himself as one of Hollywood’s elite young composers. Nathan began composing music at the age of 12. Performing an original composition as his audition, Nathan was accepted to the Los Angeles County High School of the Arts (LACHSA), where after a brief tenure, Nathan left College to accept offers to score films and ghost write a television episodic.
For the next few years, Nathan composed music for film and television, as well as producing electronica grooves and beats for major bands. This signature style has garnered Nathan with three award nominations for his outstanding original scores, including an Annie Award (the first such nomination Sony Family Television ever received) for his score for the Max Steel series the enormously popular CG animated WB series. He also earned DVD X nominations in 2003 and 2004 for Bionicle: Mask of Light (2003) and for Bionicle 2 (2004). In addition, his soundtrack for “Dust to Glory†was voted one of the “best of 2005†by the American Music Preservation, along with King Kong and Revenge of the Sith.
In a review by Variety Magazine they said “Hyped even further by Nathan Furst’s pulsating score, (Dust to Glory) puts you on the edge of your seat!†And The Hollywood Reporter is quoted as saying “Nathan Furst’s music ups the throttle…†The films director, Dana Brown, (Step into the Liquid) said in an interview, “…the music is unbelievable. He sees what the scene is about, and nails it. Nathan really took what Dust to Glory was about and exposed that musically.â€
Nathan has also composed music for countless commercials and film shorts for some of the worlds most reputable companies which include Disney, Fox, Ford, Mountain Dew, The Navy and The Air Force.
Nathan’s reputation for constantly delivering high quality scores has allowed him to repeatedly continue valued relationships with the directors and producers who work with him.
Nathan currently works in his state-of-the-art music production studio located in Calabasas, California. He is represented by Soundtrack Music Associates.
