Jonathan, Alexander and Robin had talked about starting a band for several years, and in the winter of 2006 they found a place to rehearse. A couple of weeks later, Micke moved into the neighbourhood and converted from a guitarist to a bass player. The band rehearsed for a couple of months and wrote five songs. During the time of the song writing, the band came up with the band name Nightgale.
In the beginning of 2007, Nightgale recorded their first demo, named “Wither and Decayâ€, containing their 5 all original songs. Recording took place at Christian Berglund’s studio in Nynäshamn, studio Dropfill.
Nightgale played a couple of gigs around Stockholm during springtime, starting off at “Huset†in Huddinge, then at Debaser in Stockholm and so on.
After some time Mikael and Robin traded equipment Mikael started to play guitar, and Robin started to play the bass. This was due many reasons, and it was only another step forward for the melodic death metal band. Around the same time the band changed their name to Dead In Vain to avoid being mixed up with another band.
In december 2007 Micke decided to leave the band and Dead in Vain started to look for a new guitar player. Staffan, aka Stitch a long time friend of the band - gave it a shot. It didn't take long before Stitch got a place in the band.
As of now, may 2008, Dead In Vain has just finished the recording of their second demo entitled Aeternum Vale, with 4 new fresh songs, and will hopefully in the summer of 2008 be able to record their next 5 song demo. 5 new songs are basically done and just waiting to be recorded.
And all this is just the beginning...
