Percussionist and composer born in Tomar on the 4th August 1981, starts his musical activity in 1996, inspired and motivated by the Portuguese percussionist friend Rui Júnior.
In 1998, he travels to London where he sits at various percussion seminars and workshops. In this same year he is invited by Fausto Matias (Portuguese choreographer) to take part in the Reaction project, where he had the pleasure of working with the well known New York singer, composer and producer Philip Hamilton, with whom still maintains a strong friendship, as well a musical collaboration to date.
Amplifying his horizons ever since then, Betuk creates and takes part in various dance, theatre and television original soundtracks. He is dedicated to popular music, jazz, dance and world music and has co-operating and recording with many national and international artists.
In 2003, together with Carlos Moiés (Quinta do Bill), Fernando Girão, Jorge Rivotti and Paulo Serafim, participates as a composer and musician in the homage record to the one century old Festa dos Tabuleiros of Tomar.
He was one of the regular performers of Fernando Girão, with who has collaborated for two years.
In 2005 he has produced and released his first solo record, entitled Encontros (Encounters), that features, among other well known musicians, Ivan Lins, Paulo de Carvalho, Fernando Girão and Philip Hamilton. The album revealed interesting reviews from various personalities of the music business.
In 2007 Beto Betuk releases his second solo album, Memórias da Terra Quente (Memories of the Warm Earth), once again paired with several special guest artists, such as Philip Hamilton, Paulo de Carvalho, UxÃa Senlle, Giovanna Moretti, Sara Tavares, among others. A special edition for Brazil was published in 2008, with a special guest appearance by Ivan Lins and Daniela Procopio.
Between 2006 and 2008 Beto Betuk integrated Dulce Ponte's portuguese and international tour, “O Coração tem 3 Portasâ€, having collaborated as well in her latest album (entitled after the tour) and in the show “Dulce Estrellaâ€, by Dulce Pontes and Estrella Morente.
Nowadays Beto Betuk is working in his next solo project, entitled Catavento (wind vane).
