Influences: First of all, to start off, I must give up a God Bless to the Late-Great Jam Master Jay! I know you rockin the heavens with the rest of the greats! I'll see you soon!!! With that said, let's get into Diligent Mindz... CEO and Founder G.I. coming str8 outta Silent Hill Queens has been doin the damn thang for more than 20 years rockin the turntables first out the window of his crib with his big brother Spank (of Ooh Child Ent.) and his cousin Nash-One when he was 12 years old to getting the confidence to bring his set outside to his backyard when his moms wasn't home! When he thought he was good enough, he tried to run with the big dogs B-Rock and Ice Waterz along with a host of other cats that assisted them with heckling G.I. when he was tryin to get his mixes right. They threw paper and told him to get off the tables cuz what he was doing was wack! But G.I. was determined to be a D.J. and the determination paid off! He connected with Dutch and Cool Master Gee (of DG Sands Ent.) in 1986 and got a hold of some semi-quality equipment. He and Gee practiced night and day, getting yelled at by his moms and all that, til he was seasoned and ready to venture into the House Party rhealm. Flash forward to 1992 when his cousin B-Rock came back from Florida needless to say G.I. wasn't the same inexperienced dude he remembered. G.I. put on a display that left him in "SHOCK" to say the least. He jumped up and shouted to the top of his lungs because he couldn't believe how far G.I. had come in such short of time. He said, "You're like the Grand Imperial Wizard now!" Henceforth where "G.I." came from... minus the "Wizard". The very next year Ice came home from school and connected with G.I. and til this day and 4-eva they are still doin the damn thang! Check Ice Waterz here on MySpace too. My other brother, The God Barkim Allah, was another very instrumental piece of the abstract puzzle that helped G.I. get to where he is today. Barkim was also a D.J. and he expanded into the world of communications VIA T.V. He helped broaden G.I.'s horizons so he wouldn't be limited to just playing music. As the host of the critically acclaimed "NO-FAME T.V." Barkim took G.I. on as cameraman and the partnership was phenominal! With G.I. taking care of booking most of the artists, and Barkim layin down his connections as well,they were able to create one of the most respected cable shows of it's time! They had, and still have, exclusive footage of your favorite artists, living and deceased, such as Big L, Big Pun, Notorious B.I.G., GhostFace Killah, Raekwon The Chef & Cappadonna, Jay-Z and a host of others. And be sure to look out for the new and improved "MoFame Filmz" coming soon... WE BACK!!! But that's on anutha note! G.I. is here now on MySpace to bring back the "BLEND" tape! Too many so-called D.J.'s are putting out these "MIX" tapes and aint MIXING. With the digital world expanding everyday it's easy for a 5 year old child to be a D.J. Not that G.I. has anything against the digital world because he too has made the transition, but the one thing G.I. has is the LOVE for the music he plays like the Great and Innovative Grand Master Vic. Like Vic, G.I. puts Luv&care in his BLENDS! A cross with nostalgic R&B with the latest Hip-Hop beats or vice-versa. Blends that will spark some kind of memory of some point in your life when you were partying hard. These cats are just playing music now and it doesn't take a brain surgeon to PLAY music! It's the timing and precision which makes a good D.J... B-Rock(aka Lord Swift), Ice Waterz, Bruce-Bee, Kid Capri, Grand Master Flash and of course GMV are perfect references to great D.J.'s. This is what G.I. is reviving! That feel-good blend tape that sparks up nostalgia! That go to the park and bust open the light pole for power and rock the park jams type of shyt!
