My name's Blair Michael Hogan, I'm a 24 yearl old professional musician from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I'm a sideman and currently spend almost all my time touring and recording with singer/songwriter Brock Zeman. Guitar is my first instrument though I have gotten session and live work playing other instruments...mostly bass, keys, mandolin, banjo. I sing harmonies as well. Before starting my stint working for Mr Zeman a year and a half ago, I had played with The Architects, Amos The Transparent, Eppiphane, Steve Wildesmith, Amanda Rheaume, Rory Gardiner, and a fair amount of cover bands including The Radio and My Pet Monster...as well as some others that you can find listed on the left side of this page. I've managed to get some pretty cool session work in a city that has generally nothing going on in that respect. I have worked on records with some great engineers and producers like Ken Friesen at Signal Path, Mark Zubek (TO producer and musician), Dean Hadjicristou at Addictive Sound, Jon Chandler (From Amos & local producer), Tim Greencorn at Little Chicago (Im grateful for the amount of work he's given me!), Jason Fee at Liverpool Court and Sound of One Hand, Dan Walsh in Port Dover and Jaxsn Haldane at Beverly Street Studios in Winnipeg. I've also written and recorded a few radio jingles, as well as play on records and demos on my boss Brock's new home studio. Basically, I'm a self taught musician, no training or school, learned theory on my own time, and I get to go on the road all the time, and have spent the last few years making a living doing what I love. Regardless as to how the music biz has changed and will keep changing...a living can be made....no matter how modest. Apply yourself, wear many hats, be busy and you can pay the bills....fuck working a shitty job and waiting around for your band to get "signed"...what's that gonna do? Get your road legs on.
Oh yeah, I'm a member of the Musicians Union local 180 or whatever...that is I think...I havent payed my dues in a while because they've never done anything but take my money.
