Summer of '94,Pol Van Tieghem and Steve Folens (both guitars) got together in order to play some Death/Thrash music...About 2 months later they get in touch with drummer Frank Rosseau and "Catafalque" was born...Still they faced two unsolved problems,neither a bassplayer nor a vocalist could be found...That's why Pol took care of the vocals for that time being...In december '95 they rented some recording equipment and recorded 'Ruins of a forgotten age' on an eight track Adat system in their rehearsal place...Due time and money problems they were forced to mix it themself in january '96 and in february their first accomplishment was released...Later that year Kris M. (ex-Dreft) joined their ranks in order to do the vokills from now on...Due to improved musical capabilities four new tracks were created which were recorded at the Midas Recording studio...the result of these recordings are 'here' presented & were released as a MCD under the monicker 'Awakening',released by Good life recordings in the year '97...Shortly after the recordings bassplayer Luc completed the band...Many (legendary) gigs followed as support for bands like: Death,Morbid Angel,Dark Tranquillity,In Flames,Luciferion,Infernal Majesty,Vital Remains,Vader,Occult,Malevolent Creation,etcetcetc...
The band died a silent death in '98...Some members were still active in bands like Anal Torture,Locusta,Aborted and Pol tried to continue Catafalque for a short time without success...Steve can still be found in the Belgian Black Metal band Iconoclasm as a bassplayer...
