Promoting, producing, performing & releasing electric & eclectic things in and around London scince a while ago
Short Circus is a collection of nice gentle folk who want to extract your brain through your nose and tie it to our crossfader.
In November 2005, Uncle Smutfist launched Short Circus as a free, monthly night in Peckham, roping in his shady electronic network of fiends to belt out beats and squeaky solutions to non-exsistent problems. This lot included the likes of Dj Aids Whore of Norway, Alt*Ctrl System of, well, Alt*Ctrl, Codeshift of Yardcore and Randomoidz of Adverse Camber, but more importantly:
...Patscan and Jones Deviation, who gradually saw themselves merrily merging with the concept, and by the time a bi-weekly Monday in Brixton Jamm was sorted, it was a three man team.
Whilst in Jamm, we had the Peckham lot returning, plus a bunch of groovy fellas such as Schemeboy, Symmetrik, eN, Spazmo, Con Brio and Mully. We currently do monthly nights alongside NeedleAndThread @Jamm, 1st friday of the month (except March) so watch this space!!
Our mission is to produce, perform, promote and release music based on eclectic electrics, from forceful to funky, from subtle to solid, from catchy to cataclysmic, from feet to froth, from London to your earhole. Each of the Short Circus members have produced their own material which is (ab)used with a combination of DJ'd tunes.
The essence of a Short Circus night is, in short, all good things electronic.
In a single night you could expect to hear broken breaks, educated electro, crisp clicks, booty beeps, twisted techno, psilly psy-trance, crack rock, bass camp, ambulance ambiance, fukt funk, jolly jungle, dubious dub, step, muffin ragga, jazz confusion and so on and so back and forth.
There really is no labeling it.
Short Circus intends to grow (literally) out of a van. The end of the year may see the first performance shocking crowds in and around London, and promoting the true freedom party spirit. In the future you can expect further collaborations within tunage, circus and art, plus competitions, magic performers, visuals and whatever else that can be used to add to the peculiarity of it all.
Splendid.
