Juan Carlos Casimiro Biography
Juan Carlos Casimiro was born in Madrid Spain (June 1961). Juan Carlos Casimiro is a perfect example of how efforts, studies and determination successfully enhance a career. While working and studying electronics at the age of 17, Casimiro became inspired in music from a gypsy name Cartuto who played melodies on his guitar throughout Casimiro’s neighborhood in Spain. It was then Casimiro bought a new guitar and not long after traded his guitar for the gypsy’s old guitar in exchange for guitar lessons. The gypsy taught Casimiro how to play Flamenco guitar that became a hobby for Casimiro while working as an electronic engineer. In the Village of Aranjuez is where Casmirio starting playing in a group of serenaders (Rondalla) at the age of 19 and self taught himself through playing and superior studies to become a unique musician, composer and conductor today.
When returning from the military service at the age of 23 he began his musical studies in the Village of Aranjuez. Casimiro traveled for two months playing guitar on the beach of Italy for a well-known hotel chain Vacance Agenzie in 1987. When he returned home from Italy Mr. Manuel Moreno Buendía a harmony teacher, professor and famous conductor from Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid advised him to become a musical composer.
The Real Conservatorio Superior de Música issued Casimiro the title of guitar teacher in 1991with honors in harmony and accompanied melody. Casimiro passed the corresponding public examination in 1992 and started work as Harmony and Composition Professor in the Conservatorio Professional de Música in Gijón Asturias, Spain. While combining his superior studies and composing activities he became a dedicated professor to his students.
He earned the Superior Professor title in Harmony, counterpoint and fugue, composition and instrumentation in 1999 issued by Conservatorio Superior de Música in Salamanca, Portugal and scored “The Tell-Tale Heart” with Paul Naschy in 2001. In the Teatro Jovellanos de Gijón theatre, he composed and produced “Danza Prima” for Julian Orbón symphonic orchestra, chorus and tenor soloist producing a 2001 video-clip on CD live. His music for the Christmas TV spot “Sidra EL Gaitero” commissioned by the company El Gaitero broadcasted in 2003 – 2006 on national TVE and other television throughout Spain. He completed his studies with film scoring, style writing and other courses at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts in the fall of 2006 with continuous studies at Berklee.
Juan Carlos Casimiro currently holds title as Chief of Composition’s Department in Conservatorio Professional de Música in Gijón Asturias, Spain. He organized and composed a musical theatre "El viento que nos lleva" with his friend Carlos Espina where he developed one unique language for Gaita or bagpipe. "El viento que nos lleva" was produced for a symphony, big choir and Gaita soloist that tell a story about a legendary sailor in the Celtic world. The spectacular musical composition was performed May 30, 2007 by a well-known Bagpiper name Hevia in the Teatro Jovellanos de Gijón theater that accommodated the film Festival Internacional de cine de Gijón. Casimiro’s plans are to work in film, TV and spectacle compositions, such as, Ballets, Opera, cantatas and musical theatre.
