About Me
"PHIDASEA" are Philip (vocals) Daryl (bass) Sean (guitar). The concept of this soulful rock band was born in 1999, but the members had previously been playing music together since their early teens. In the years leading up to "PHIDASEA" they explored many styles of music and were on a journey they didnt yet realise they were on. This journey would find them devloping a unique soulful rock hybrid, with funk grooves, a hip-hop feel between the drums and bass, distortion guitars and soulful vocals. Unusually their influences range from Prince, Donny Hathaway, Lenny Kravitz, Omar, Wu-Tang and the Hawkins Familey. In their younger years, Philip studied drums, piano and percussion whilst Daryl got solid on bass guitar and Sean developed a distinctively dominant rhythmic guitar feel, the drums were and still are an instrument they all play. By the time "PHIDASEA" was conceived Philip was taking vocals alot more seriously, which hadn't always been a main focus as both he and Daryl had been working as session musician touring and performing with chart acts such as, Five, Blue, Kelly Clarkson, Beverly Knight, Lemar, Robin Gibb, Javine, All Saints, Jill Scott, Michelle Gayle, Mark Morrison, E-17, Artful Dodger, Robert Palmer and Mel Blatt. October 2000, "PHIDASEA" recorded their first demo, five tracks which they had written composed arranged and performed. The ball was now rolling. However, a series of major setbacks slowed down progress considerably but they continued writing and compiled a catalogue of songs. Fast forward to 2005, "PHIDASEA" started gigging around London creating a buzz and building foundations for a solid fanbase with positive feedback from industry representatives and the public. Now with new material recorded (and still recording) they're preparing a return to the stage with a website under construction.
