.. ..
Hello all, my name is Christian and I'm a Christian. Coincidence? I think not! Anyway, a little bit about me? Okay. I'm 25. I'm a creative and completely random person, and often a deep thinker.
Faith:
Jesus Christ is my Saviour. I'm constantly learning of the freedom he provides. He's always there and helps me through life's hardships. Christ is relevant to all facets of life. Trusting God is something I have to work on daily.
Oh, and if you want a good reading Bible, The Message (Bible) is an amazingly good read.
Grace, Honesty, Humility and a Passion for Life are values I honour the most. Imagination, love for friends, family, fellow mankind, Faith in God - Father/Son/Spirit - all of these are very high important to me also.
I'm not going to pretend I read my Bible all the time because I don't. To tell the truth I read much more fiction and if they have God-truths in them, I mull them over. But while books are great and can open our eyes to God's truth, they shouldn't be the main course. Think of the Bible as the main course or a meal and fiction as dessert. They compliment each other but without a regular meal one will grow hungry - desert alone never satisfies. Was that overt enough? (lol)
I'm a 'pessimistic realist'. Many Christians have given the impression that if you aren't happy 24/7 you aren't faithful. Yeah. Not likely mate. While God tells us to rejoice in the tough times, we aren't robots - we do feel emotion and it's alright to release it, beneficial even. I'm not a male version of Daria, but I do have my moments. (lol)
Life as a Christian isn't always easy; in many ways it's than not being one eg. 'Swimming' against the flow of selfish ambition and materialism.
Chrysalis camp, a Japan Mission trip, Encounter Schoolies 2006, youth work, a Wild At Heart camp and more recently university, have all helped shape me in Christ to be who I am today.
I often find it hard to connect properly with people long-term or at more than a surface level (but that could have more to do with conflict of personality or that many people just don't 'get me', than anything else). My high-school mates are amazing though and the friends I've made at uni are incredible. It feels great to be so blessed!
I'm in the process of writing a novel. It is entitled: 'Echoes of a Silent Mind' and is going to be a cross-genre piece, maybe sci-fi dystopia/alternate history/fantasy/horror would best describe it. I'm aiming for a full-length novel but not a 'brick'-sized novel. My main influences are: 'The Pretender' tv series, C.S. Lewis's, Frank Peretti's and Ted Dekker's writings, parts of 'The Bible' and the 'Thief' stealth game series, but my WIP novel is very different from any of these.
Fun - I'm a Bookworm:
Favourite genres: psychological thriller, suspense, adventure, mystery and fantasy, but I also enjoy some horror and sci-fi. Favourite non-fiction: Animal/bird/insect/reptile life etc books, Medieval history books, behind the scenes books and art instruction/writing craft books.
Pet Hates:
Westboro Baptist Church, aggressive atheists, rape, child abuse, pornography, abortion, honour killings, back-stabbing, naive but overly patriotic people, telemarketers, reality tv shows and political correctness - sin in general. Also less serious stuff like: talking on the phone, mosquitoes, Maths, too much study, Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Trilogy, Christian fiction that read like sermons, Shakespeare's works, books the size of a small country just for the heck of it. I think that covers it.
Study:
I've studied and completed a 3 year Graphic Design course at Tafe. Currently I'm studying Teacher Education (Primary) at Tabor University. Helping kids (holistically) really is my passion.
Disclaimer:
Ignore the star-sign thing in my profile, it's default and I don't believe that rubbish.
God Bless you all richly!
Your Love
